a simple and cheap NVIDIA 8800 series GT or GTX would serve your need. Just on the side note the maximum settings for L4D2 on PC is much better looking than the one on xbox 360.

Btw what is your spec anyway? Maybe you should update our driver for your graphic card first.

250 GTS is what I use on my crappy HP/vista Frakenstien computer and it runs the game pretty well. I used to use a 9600gt on L4D1 and that seemed to work nice also.

Sure the GTS 250 will do because L4D2 is really not that demanding but it might struggle with other more demanding game like battlefield bad company 2 and such.

if all you want to play is L4D2 you can get an ATI Radeon HD 4650 and play it with no problem.

I have the laptop version and play ME2 and Farcry 2 at 1024x768, but with the Desktop i'm sure you could get alittle more out of it.
Edit: I play L4D2 at 1366x768 on high

If you want to play something like BFBC2 though, its probably best to get a card like the one they mentioned.

if you want to run MW2 well, you may want to make sure you have a CPU that is atleast higher than 2.4ghz Dual along with a GTS 250 or 9800gt.

HD 5670 is the best bang for your buck ($100), and you prob wont have to upgrade your power supply...its runs L4D2 and MW2 with maxed out settings at 1920x1200 resolution with no problems.

if you have a core 2 duo, you will be fine with a 8600 at the resolution of 1280X1024.

Speaking of MW2, I went to a sight recommended by Gamespot to test my rig to see how well it would run MW2. It said I meet the minimum requirements, but said nothing about meeting the recommended requirements. It says I can run any game, including Crysis, at recommended requirements, except for MW2 and another of the latest COD games. I don't get it. I have a quadcore running at 2.33 ghz. 8 gigs ram, ati radeon hd 4850 512 mb. Is my graphics card not enough to run MW2 on recommended settings?

Thats definately good enough I would think, apparently my ATI 4650m is supposed to be able to run MW2 at around 34-35 fps on high with an i7

Get a GT 220 - 1Gb ram, if want better then go for 2 GB ram

I run most games on 1600x 1080 with no lags

its cheap and good.

Dirt 2, Re5,prototype, Fear 2 dead space Left for dead 2

of coz, GT 220 has its limits

The Max for this card is at 1680x 1080 resolution.

your com need to have at least 3.00 GHz

and 4 Gb Ram of memory

I know all this because i am using this card

this guy know where its at.. really if you want better go out and get it in something like a gtx200 series or hd 5800 series. really there isnt a need for much over an hd 4770 or 9800gt if l4d2 and MW2 are you issues :P come back when you need advice on stalker or shattered horizons.

you don't need a high end graphcis card to max out l4d2 with AA a 9600gt is good enough. Just make sure your cpu is good enough or you will lag as this game is cpu dependent
