I remember being a big fan of their games. In the past, UBI=PC gaming, at least for me. POP games, loved them all, except for 4 of course. and a whole lot of other games.

But recently, all of their releases are quiet mediocre. Not bad not good, nothing spectacular. AC,POP4, boring stuff. I had great hope in the new POP, but the reviews are nothing special. I mean this is just stupid, how hard is it to make a great POP game? you basically have everything.

They pounded their best series into the ground until they come out looking like **** Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six will never be the same. Too much emphasis on a casual crowd has ruined all three of these great franchises.

it was pretty pointless. A game where you dont die? WTF is that? also the combat was laughable, not to mention the plot and settings that have nothing to do with the series.

How can a new series not have anything to do with its series? Maybe you're forgetting this but Sands of Time wasn't the first Prince of Persia, so there isn't just a story in the PoP series, it never was, it's made out of trilogies, well the last one was supposed to be a trilogy too but they god back to the Sands of Time saga.

Just because you can't die doesn't mean it's a bad game... there are other games where you don't DIE and are great too.

ok but you cant make a "call of duty, early warfare" where ogres fight each others with sticks. POP4 has nothing to do with "Persia".

Then why don't you go and make your own PoP game? basically what they've done with the PoP series is turning them into more console arcade game: PoP Sands of Time - action game PoP Warrior Withing - best in series action game with lots of combos PoP The Two Thrones - leaning towards more of a console arcade game than action with the quick button mashing PoP (2008) - cartoon style arcade game with almost no fighting, more like adventure game with some boss fights PoP The Forgotton Sands - arcade game includes 4 elemental powers - similar to most arcade action games such as God of War etc.

I actually really enjoyed PoP '08. But i'll agree in that inhouse Ubisoft developed titles haven't been all that great the past few years.

It more the developers that are partnered with Ubisoft in a publishing deal that i feel sorry for. I'm interested in some of those games but i jus refuse to buy them with that DRM.

I can respect that if you were just crticizing the game but you were asking how hard it is. Coding games is hard work for those that are skilled let alone us who can't even code basic stuff.

PoP WW didn't really have anything to do with PoP either yet it was enjoyable, filled with iSAD, iCRY and iEMO but it was playable I guess.

Only one thing killed the enjoyment in PoP (4) and that is not the combat or the story, story is not relevant since it is a new game and you are a prince of Persia so it fits as much as it would in any PoP game because it's not PiP (Prince in Persia) and the combat is directly tied to the game breaking problem, it was open world. PoP doesn't work in an open world simply because it revolves around action, acrobatics and more action, it needs to be linear and limited, no it should have some huge levels but they need to be limited to a certain path with lots of detail and more obstacles.

PoP is a superb game, but looong idle sections make it boring and the action sequences are too short compared to the "waiting" periods and because of it being open world and you could die lots of times they implemented Elika and because of her they though they eliminated the frustration from those looong dangerous "idle" periods, thus they only implemented boredom not extreme frustration too. I don't like their changes but the "save" ability was needed. It's only natural they'd turn back to Sands of Time since that series was a solid PoP like game, an extremely linear game with action.

They took a gamble with PoP and open world and they lost big, I wanted more of that series but I doubt they'll continue it after the next PoP.

dont take my words literally. I meant its not hard to be able to produce a good quality POP game, you got the fanbase, and you got the settings and atmosphere they prefer, why going wild and do crazy stuff like POP4? you get the idea? there is no need to try so hard and change things, the formula in POP1,2 and 3 worked well. Just update the graphics and add more combat and acrobatics and tweak the story.

They lost the plot in the last few years. Inconsistent quality and design, much more reliance on casual titles and quite frankly shovelware, and now delusional damage control.

I stopped buying Ubisoft games when they started using the starforce protection system. Now in the "big brother" era where you can't so much as breath with out Ubisofts say so I still don't buy their games. I will admit it is quite easy for me since they don't actually produce anything I want to play.

I guess it comes down to taste... I thought the PoP Sands of Time Trilogy ended well....and it was a welcome change the different graphics, plot and gameplay for PoP08...

POP4 has nothing to do with "Persia".GazaAli

It has far more to do with Persia than the previous titles, actually. The story is heavily influenced by Zoroastrianism.

As for the gameplay - it was all about the flow and the rhythm. You had to pay attention to the path, not to your every step. It was peaceful and relaxing. I loved it, but the combat was broken. The punishment for failure was often a lot worse than in the Sand of Time trilogy. 4 hours into the game you already had to repeat 60 seconds long sequences if you failed...

On topic: Assassin's Creed 2 is absolutely amazing. Ubisoft's just being Ubisoft, they make solid games...

Just because it's hard to develop a game, doesn't guarantee the game will be worthy of praise, Shirley? :?

I agree it doesn't guarentee a good game but don't say it's easy. It's a lot of work to even make a bad game. Sorry i'm not Shirley.

I actually sort of enjoyed AC1. Storywise I was interested most of the time. Then again I paid $5 for it, if I paid 60 I'd be singin a different tune due to the length/repetition. The parts it did have were good, they just reused stuff too much. POP2008 was rediculous though. Glad I never got into the series from the beginning, or this would be one more franchise I'd be watching sink deeper and deeper with each game released.
