AMD Athlon 64 3800+, 2.5 GB CorsairDDR Ram, XFX 7950 gx2, 500 GB SATA Seagate Baracuda, ASUS A8N 32 SLI deluxe.

Some of you will think that its pc hardware post, I also thought the same but I thought its game related thats why I posted here, any suggestions.

Your computer can play Crysis fine, but if you want to play it in DirectX 10 mode, then you will have to get a GeFroce 8 series card. Getting any one of the several variants of 8800 would be a good idea depending on your budget.

I'm a little worried about the CPU, since it seems to be one of the single-core Athlon 64s rather than the newer Athlon X2s. I would expect Crysis to want two, four, or even more cores! You have more than enough RAM, though, and your graphics card ought to chew it up and spit it out in DX9 mode.

AMD Athlon 64 3800+

just wondering ... my guess is that you do have an Athlon 64 x2 (since most of the parts are really actual, and you might have forgot about the X2)

... but, also, if you do not have a athlon 64 x2, there might be the thing to upgrade in your computer (lol, it might also need you to upgrade your motherboard to fit the CPU socket, oh and make sure it supports your memory sticks too)

waza000

it's because i don,t know how you reach 2.5 gb, my best idea would be that you have 1 memory stick of 2.5gb ... wich is wrong !!

or having 4 sticks of (i guess) 625 or 633 mb (something like that) wich would be better

*the important thing here ** is that you know that having 1 memory stick is wrong, having 3 is wrong, having 5 is wrong (if possible)
the true good numbers of memory sticks you need are 2 and 4 ... if not the computer won't use that power at it's full potential, it is totaly true, it doesn't work well with 1 , 3 or maybe 5 memory sticks

You'll likely be able to play it. As for how well you can play it on the top settings we'll have to see. You likely won't be able to max out the games visuals though

He could have 1 2 GB memory stick and 1 512 MB memory stick making the total RAM 2.5GB

Umm...nothing? Your PC is fine. You'll probably be able to max it out in DX9 mode, as long as your res isnt too high. I'm sure 1280x1024 will be good.

i think you only need 2 identical sticks if you want dual channel. he can still possibly have 2 1gb and 1 512mb stick. or 1 2gb and 1 512mb.

My goodness. Do any of you spend any time actually researching Crysis or peruse any technical forums? If anyone thinks for one single second that they'll be able to "max" out Crysis at 1280x1024 or above on anything less than a 3Ghz+ Core 2 Duo and the NEXT generation of video cards, well, I have a bridge to sell you. I'm fully cognizant of the fact that my current rig is going to have to be given to the wife and an entirely new one built to handle that game.

This game is going to demand every single last ounce of PC horsepower that can be thrown at it. It is going to dynamically scale across as many CPU cores available and the technology being implemented is mind-boggling. For God's sake, current top-end rigs have difficulty running STALKER, Oblivion, Rainbow Six:Vegas and other CURRENT games at high settings and resolutions. Crysis is going to make them look like PONG. I understand the wishful thinking because top-notch hardware costs a lot of money but self-delusion and reality are mutually exclusive.

PCGH: Can you already say what rig players must have to play the game with all details in resolution of 1280x1024?

Irrational Games: Our recommended spec is as follows:
- CPU: 3GHz dual core processor
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Video card: Pixel Shader 3.0 compliant video card with 512 Ram (Geforce 7900 GT or better)

But to run the game at 1280x1024 with all graphics options enabled you really need an NVIDIA 8800 or ATI 2900XT or better.

There you have it. From the devs themselves, the OP has the system requirements. His processor might be a bit short, so he may need to trim back a few things, so I guess I should have said nearly max. The comment is a little misleading, because in the requirements he says a 7900GT, which is worse than the OP's 7950GX2, but then proceeds to say the Geforce 8 seriesand ATI's 2900XT. So , I'm sure that's leaning more towards the higher-end cards.

But nonetheless, he's very capable to play Crysis.

1.) There are no official recommended specs for Crysis at this time.

2) Once again, has anyone bothered to watch the videos to understand the level of tech and it's requisite hardware requirements?

3) There is a 0.0% chance of a single current top-end card handling this game at "max" settings. Some of the videos currently available show Crysis being run on a single 8800 GTX and dips into single-digit framerates are clearly noticeable. And before anyone says it, the magical "optimization" is not some golden panacea that is going to raise FPS to acceptable values.

4) Does the phrase "blowing smoke up one's a** " ring a bell? Because that is what is happening when anyone associated with the game makes claims on how current mid-high range hardware will run Crysis just fine at high settings and resolutions, as referred to in your post above. Crytek does not want to scare any potential buyers away and wishes to maintain the current level of hype surrounding the game.

I will say it again, it is entirely understandable how most people hope that they will be able to enjoy Crysis in all it's glory on their current hardware. However, clear precedent (it took 6 months for video cards-the 6800 series Nvidia's-to become available that could truly handle Far Cry) and basis common sense dictate otherwise.

Apparently you missed my point entirely. I suppose you believe that the moon is made of cheese also? I deal in the realm of technological fact, not wishful thinking. I'm going to win so many bets when this game comes out that I won't have to buy a beer for a month.
