WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
I'm not saying that it would be possible. I just want to know your thoughts.

Been around the pc for over 20 years..Its still growing strong..Are you another believer that the pc is dying..Well ive got 21 games do out on the pc only plat form this year..Some of i bought already..Think it will just get better in time not worst..Our plat form will not die it will just get better..These devs cry about piracy im not sure thats the case..Look at torchlight they sold there game for 20 bucks an made a killing..The pc is here to stay never say die..
In this impossible situation, I'd probably quit playing games, I hate consoles.InconsistancyAnd this. I might even become a millionaire now. :P
likely spend 1/10th of the time on games as I do now. There are very few console games I like, Not anti console per say, just anti mainstream dumbing down :P So the consoles will end up with just a few games I like, mainly fighters, platformers and... well guess thatd be it, I cant stand FPS or rpgs on console -.- (and my 3 favorite genres are RPG, RTS and FPS in that order ;) )
It's just a "what if" question. I love how many people post just to argue that it will never happen. Yes we all know it well never happen. The guy was just wondering what you would do besides pc gaming.
I myself would obviously game a lot less but would still enjoy playing my ps3. I love my fighting games. :)
I would also work a little more. :)
There are currently enough games avaliable in existance that I would never be able to complete them all. Therefore, nothing much would change.
Something else.guynamedbilly
haha!

i'd propably be knitting socks, or doing something else as cool.
I think according to most news networks we're supposed to go on a gun killing rampage if we can't play.
Play games on my PS3 instead.
Seriously though, it would never happen. The open platform nature of the PC means that as long as there are PCs, there will be people making games for them.

This and many games can be played over and over many times because the each play offers something a little different. Plus modding some games makes it a totally different experience so sometimes one game turns into 2 or 3 new ones.
I doubt that would happen. I can see fewer PC games being made as more devs cater to the console crowd, but I don't see PC development being abandoned compeltely. I think I heard that PC gamers make up 10% of the gaming market or so. It would be foolish to ignore such a market from a business standpoint because there is still a lot of money to be made there. And as a result there will always be competition for that market.
Sorry I may have misunderstood the question... what would I do if such a thing happend? My PC gaming library is large enough to keep me busy for a long time. Plus I'm sure there will always be some people passionate about the PC to continue making games on that platform.
Also, maybe I would be tempted to buy an xbox...
not really...
If developers stopped making new games, I'd just play the games I already have, or buy older games already released.
However, it's doubtful new developers wouldn't just come to replace the old.
Just yesterday i was looking at the first 3d game online I played, the history of it being hosted here and there, piracy, code on Internet, and now a free play. At this point wouldn't be to hard to host something like Merdian59, and probably others as they age to their limits.
If there's a market, someone is always going to try to make money from it. And that's where the PC's open platform comes into its own - anyone can make a game for the PC if they have the know-how.
The PC may not be a huge market like the consoles, but it's big enough.
Seems kinda pointless question, its not gonna happen. What if they stopped making games for consoles or just stopped making them period?Captain__Tripps
If they stop doing games on console...hmmm...that would benefit the gamers actually...If only PC would be around as gaming platform we would have more quality and quantity in our games...not to talk about ground breaking new technology that will be put out(because there will be no ancient hardware gaming platforms like the xbox 360 and the ps3 to limit/hold down developers)
Now back to the TC question...In order for devs to stop making PC games...this comanys will have to dissapear too(or go bankrupt or change their field of activity) : Nvidia,AMD,Intel,Logitech,Akasa,Gigabyte,Antec,Asus,Corsair,Lian Li,NZXT,Thermaltake,Arctic Cooling,Cooler Master,Scythe,Noctua,Zalman,PNY,Inno3D,MSI,XFX,Zotac,Leadtek,Matrox,Sapphire,Western Digital,Seagate,Hitachi,Razer,OCZ,ASRock,SilverStone,Mushkin,Seasonic,G.Skill etc...and...half of the keyboard/mouse manufacturers out there will have to dissapear too...half of the monitors manufacturers will have to dissapear too...some of the headset manufacturers too...and everything related to pc gaming pretty much :D
But if those companys above would dissapear too console gaming will dissapear too...coz devs will no longer have the hardware necessary to build/make games for consoles...and for the simple reason that both ps3 and 360 uses ATI and Nvidia hardware...
So again,if developers would stop making PC games...that would be the end of gaming as a whole... not to mention the modern technology as a whole will take a step backwards...
For me this question is one of those questions that has no answer...because you have to take in to the equation so many factors and variables...that you cannot come with a single straight answer...
