It is a turned based RPG and it does not take place in the first person.

Oh yeah this topic is about Fallout 3 not Fallout.:PAnyway this game is looks as though it will be a FPS/RPG. It is on consoles, from Bethesda, and it is on the same engine as Oblivion(I believe), I doubt that they are going to make it a turnbased RPG like the originals and I have no idea if your going to like it or not.
bump, so does it have a good story? bc the video made it looks like it expected everyone to know everything about it, either that or that was the worse game video ive ever seen. graphics look good. if its anything like stalker maybe itll be worth trackingncderek

yes it has a great story and it's a turnbased RPG in case you didn't know. No one knows what bethsoft is gonna do with fallout 3, but most people who have played the games hate the fact that the game might be an FPS.(me included) Â
it looks like this game is hyped by many, is number 1 ranked for pc and overall. ive never heard of it, or the older ones, and i watched the video and not sure what its about. or what type of game it is. is it like stalker? meaning a fps / rpg? or just rpg, or just fps? what is it?ncderek
Ahhh, youth.
The Fallout games--1 & 2; ignore the spinoffs--were a sweet RPG franchise from the mid-90s. They had a great setting and story, and a gameplay model that was popular and proven at the time... sadly, it's a style that's been largely abandonned. The closest comparison to Fallout is another excellent series you may or may not be familiar with (though I doubt it, if Fallout is a mystery to you): Baulder's Gate I & II, a Dungeons & Dragons fantasy RPG. Fallout featured a vaguely contemporary world, the remnants of a 1950s-era nuclear holocaust.
These games--Baulder's and Fallout--seemed to have it all. They were heavy on text and dialogue driven story. Though they featured an isometric 3rd person view, they were rich with detailed artwork which filled every screen. And finally--most importantly, to fans of the genre--they featured combat in a turn-based format. Sounds kooky, I know, but it made the fighting highly strategic, because it put you in precise control of your party's gameplan. To any fan of the tactical RPGs of that era, the fighting in games like NWN2 or even KOTOR is a bit of a clusterf***.
Anyways, it's tough to say what Fallout3 will look or play like, though cynical fans are pretty certain it will resemble Obvlivion more than Baulder's Gate II (an understandable concern). I'm torn. Say what you will about Oblivion: some loved it; some hated it, but I'd argue the Bethesda model isn't without its virtues. Morrowind, after all, was a damn cool game. The challenge for Bethesda will be capturing Fallout's spirit while appealing to folks like... well, folks like you.
We'll see if they pull it off.
Basically, the only thing we know about the third game is that it is set in the same setting as the previous games. Everything else could be different - we don't know anything about the gameplay or story, so there isn't much point discussing it yet.Planeforger
True dat. I know rapant, dogmatic speculation is the offical pastime of Gamespotters, but in the end, we've got very little to go on when it comes to Fallout3.
