First thing you need to remember is that the graphics card is the most important gaming part of a computer, without a good one you will not be playing many games or games well. Many brand name PCs simply do not include good graphics cards.

Many people will say that you should build your own, and price/perf wise it's the best option but it's not easy.

If you buy a good intel core 2 duo, a 8800 gtx, 2go ram, a good motherboard and a very good psu you will be able to play all incoming next gen games.

In the UK if you bought all the parts online you'r looking at around £650-£700 for a decent computer id say, theres some really good UK sites. The PC im using now cost me £792 from eBay (bought it a year ago) and its pretty decent close to amazing if it had a Nvidia 8800 series card in it. This is its specs...poor thing only has a Nvidia 7900 in it :(

AMD Athlon64x2 Dual Core 4400+
300GB HardDrive
2GB RAM
NvidiaGeForce 7900GS 256MB DDR3 PCI-E

Its price in dollars is $1605.77 with todays exchange rating between the UK and US. What you could do is buy all the parts you want yourself and if you know a friend or local technician you could get them to help (obviously the friend is the cheaper option). But it might make things easier for you if your not entirely sure/confident about doing it on your own.

You can put together a pretty decent computer for about 800.

I'm building a 2nd computer atm and it will run me about 1600. My primary gaming system ran 4000

Isn't there a website where you can build a PC for gaming for cheap, besides the Dell and Alienware sites!

I second this guy. Unless you have a lot of cash which I assume you do not, buy what this person said. Then once you understand things a bit better upgrade to your own tastes. The above suggestion is very good for someone that is new so that you dont get burned and buy something that is overpriced only to find that it isnt what you need. In other words, start small and work up.

You will need to buy the video card seperatly since that one has a garbage integrated GPU. It does have a PCI-E however so that should be ok. Note that it is a bit overpriced but it should work.

Build it yourself, you can build one way better than any manufacturer will build for you and for hundreds cheaper.

Both those kinda suck cause you're paying $850+ for an integrated vid card so that means you're gona have to spend another $200ish to get a good card.
