XFX 8800GTS Alpha Dog

8800GTXXX Alpha Dog

8800GTX

8800Ultra

9600GT

9800GX2

I've got the money.

Oh man there are so many editions & cards I can't decide what to buy!

just hang on to the card you have for now, it's about as good as you'll get for the time being. Besides even if you did 'upgrade' you wouldn't see much of an improvement. Just wait for some newer higher end cards to come out and then get a new one.

If you wanted to make a move right now, you should only look at the 3870X2. However, you didn't list any ATI cards, so you might not be looking that route.

Otherwise, wait to see the performance/price information for the 98XX cards before making any decisions.

Or how about, the BFG 8800GTX OC?

Isn't that the best card out right now?

^nope its the HD 3870 X2. Although OP keep an eye out for the 9800 GTX because its coming out in a week or two and it should take the performance crown.

If you HAVE to buy right now, get a 3870x2, if you can wait, see how the 9 series performs, and see if ATI releases a new card aswell.

The best value for your money right now is likely the 8800GT OC Edition 512MB. Its only $250USD and can max out Crysis's quality settings @1680x1050, and it runs perfectly smooth on any decent core 2 duo system. I know this bc thats exactly what I'm using. So if 8800GTS's and 8800Ultras can do the same thing at $100s of dollars more, why waste your money on them? Good luck with your rig.

considering your current specs, you dont really need a new card, but you made a mistake buying 8800GTS 320mb, u shud have got 8800GT 512mb, you should still wait for the 9 series and see how well they perform before buying anything, might want to consider new CPU as it wont perform well with an expensive GPU

go the the GTS 512mb (g92 chipset) its around $300 dollars, and its basically like the GTX, but not priced ridiculously. and if you OC it, it exceeds the GTX. ;)

i think the best would be 9800gx2, but it is hardly bang for buck (about 600$).

so i would recommend 8800gtx

9800gtx is speculated and almost to good to be true to have a price point of $299-350. It releases March 25th, so I guess we'll see. I'd wait it out if I were you... 9800gt is rumored to release Apr 3rd too.

You won't see a tangible performance jump going from 8800 GTX to 9800 GTX.

I'd also like to add that R700 will come out sometime in Q2-Q3, so if you've got a capable card now, you may want to wait out a bit more.

What?:?

And the G92 GTS is not $100 more and will run crysis about 10-15% better than the GT and is certainly not a waste of money.Sure the GT may have better price performance but that doesnt make getting a GTS a waste.

Agreed and i have a feeling the R700 will kick major ass.

It's been a rough time for ATI since the launch of 8800GTXGTS but things will change soon.;)

320GTS came a long time before the GT and since the 640GTS was atleast $100 more expensive i wouldnt call it a mistake.

you should buy the 3870x2 it might stay as the king right now since it beats the 9800x2 in medium settings not sure about high tho.

although 3870x2 doesnt perform fully when trying cryisis

but i dont know if thats the only game you are thinking about buying? although even if you did buy the 3870x2 you would still get about 50FPS
