What is the best RTS?

What do you lot think is the best RTS game out there on PC as i really feel like buying one.

but also i dont want to pay to much for it.

Warhammer: Dawn of War Anthology is only £18 now-a-days and is a superb game with two good add-ons. Probably the best value for money you'd get right now.

If you're looking to be able to play as a more ancient race, then your best bet would probably be Age of Empires 3.

If you change your mind though, i'm going to agree with the others and say that Dawn of War is my favorite RTS series.

I"d advise getting the Warcraft III Battle Chest.

ALthough, if you want ot wait a little while, StarCraft II is gonna be the greatest RTS ever.

AoE III was a let down..

Homeworld.

I will say it now and forever, Homeworld is the best RTS ever made. No other game I have played matches the gameplay and story of Homeworld.

If you're looking for a game to play as more historical sides, then yeah, Age of Empires or Rise of Nations are probably your best bets. I personally never really got into those games. For some reason I prefer turn based when I play my historical strategy games, don't ask why.

Best RTS? Well as far as recent ones go Company of Heroes and Supreme Commander are both pretty amazing. They're both very different game too, taking completely different takes on the genre that both work really well. Company of Heroes focuses in really close and gets some very intense small battles going, whereas Supreme Commander zooms way out, and provides some of the most epic battles on an RTS ever.

My all time favorites though still are Starcraft and Total Annihilation.

I strongly suggest you play Battle Realms. Its one of the best innovative great RTS games on my list. Its very fun and unique.lordlors
