What is the best sci-fi game that you guys have played? It can be an RTS, FPS, or any other type as long as it's Sci-Fi.

RPGs: Deus Ex(though it's debatable if it's more cyberpunk than sci fi still a fantasic game regardless) KOTOR I and II (Good/awesome star wars RPGs) Mass Effect (Words cannot describe how much I love this game. I highly recommend this one) FPS/TPS I'm not a fan of half-life so i won't recommend it but I do suggest: Jedi knight series RTS Homeworld (plus expansion) and homeworld 2 Sins of a solar empire

If you like RPGs then try Mass Effect, if you have an older PC try Star Wars: Knights of the old republic.

If you like FPS, then try Crysis. It has aliens at least. And its amazing...in every way.

And if you like RTS you can try Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars........I liked it atleast ^.^

Thanks for your posts guys! I love the responses! Seems like I've played most of these. With a few exceptions such as KOTOR, Freelancer, X-Com, TIE Fighter, Wing Commander, and X-WIng Alliance. But no one mentioned Anarchy-Online :( Half-Life 2 Series: Great storyline, kept me interesting. Homeworld Series: (Never played Cataclysm) Loved it, Homeworld 1 is one of the best space RTS. Freelancer: Looks like a more complex version of Freespace. Deux Ex: Godly :) Quake 4: Quake 3. X-Com: LoL old game. Probably good. Mass Effect: Slow, yes; The story kept me going, it was pretty epic. Sins of a Solar Empire: Whoooaaa so complicated. Freespace: Like a roller coaster. Halo 1: Indeed, only the first one is good.

The Halo and Riddick games.

That part in EFBB where
you're sent to cryosleep and only have two minutes of exercise per day
is the pinnacle of sci-fi gaming.

The last part of Mass Effect is basically Halo 2 in third person.
