What is the best way to download YouTube videos?

I've tried so many software programs and they work for a little bit but then are disabled. What is the best way to download YouTube videos to an Ipod and convert them?

YouTube Downloader is a pretty good program I've used several times.

It also allows you to convert the flv files you downloaded into formats like mov, avi, mp3, mp4, H.263, H.264, and wmv.

There are a multiple of ways, Google it and there are millions of internet sites that will do it for you. Alternatively you can browse through the code if you know that thing and pick the link out, or just use one of the programs mentioned above, (probably the better choice). Just beware that some of the programs arent free, theres a trial, and I know on several of them this means that it stops the video after 1 minutes, so make sure you steer clears of those ones that want you to purchase them.

If you don't mind keeping the videos in a native FLV format, then you might want to check out the Firefox addon, Video Download Helper. It can basically download from any sort of streaming video site out there, so it's a little more versatile than the downloaders that only support youtube.

I've never tried this, but does Orbit work on YT videos? Orbit's a pretty reliable program for grabbing video from most browser-embedded media.
