Hi, I recently bought a new motherboard and processor, (ASUS P5N-E SLI, and a Intel Dual-Core 2.2GHz processor), and since the ASUS motherboard came with PC Probe II, I decided to install it. It gives me an alarm when either the motherboard or CPU reaches 45 C. However, it does allow me to change the alert level, so I'd like to know at what temperature I should probably move the alarm to. I've got a case with a 120mm fan, and side vents, but also lately it has been in the 100+ degree weather outside, and our air-conditioning is down (which may be why the motherboard is so hot). So if anyone has any tips, please share.

On a hot day, here in Canada with humidity, it gets pretty bad, which brings me to my point. My CPU Q6600 is @ around 45-55C (45-50 (Idle) 50-55 (Underload)) depending on the conditions in my room. I would set it around 60 for alarm, because once you are hitting 59-60 it can get pretty bad. All of these temeperatures are of course in Celsius. Hope this helped.

What Taiko88 said. Cept I would put my ambient temperatures a little lower. Maybe 35-45C, in an air conditioned room.

I think you should set it the alarm for 70 C, cause that is where you normally will start experienceing errors and such. You can go about 20 degrees more before you start risking to damage your hardware, but it is not advisable to let it get that hot because of the errors you might get.

If you are looking for OC your CPU, you should aim for a temperature just around 65 C when the it is at 100% loading.
