old AMD AM-socket-based build in an even older IBM server case. made the initial build in 2005-2006 or something.

now installed: 1st gen Phenom quadcore + GTX 560 + 4GB RAM

it's not much, but it has served me a LONG time. only mid-range GPU swaps every now and then, and i can still play games on high settings, but with these parts this old'n'trusty workhorse has come to an end of the road. considering laptop next.

Specs in my signature. My PC was actually brought down to me from my brother. The only piece I upgraded was the graphics card for $70.

  • EVGA GTX 680 2GB

... Not the best but does the job.

I have spent £1400 on it which is around $2000 or less.

From 2009......

My PC originally had the specs:

AMD Phenom II X3 720BE

Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H motherboard

Sapphire Radeon HD 5770

SATA 500Gb WD hard drive

8GB DDR 1600 RAM

DVD Burner

Diablotek 700w PSU

64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium OEM

The total cost of the above amounted to around ~$750 including shipping. I think they costed more when I specced them separately at newegg.com. But once I put them in the cart, the discounts were applied.

I used my old Apevia (formerly Aspire?) X-Cruiser case, monitor and HDTV, keyboard n mouse, a spare 500Gb SATA hard drive, Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speakers, Wifi adapter.

Later, I swapped in a:

Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti - $219

Coolermaster 750w PSU - $80

Foxconn minitower case - $20

AMD FX-8350 CPU - $200

ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 motherboard - $70

Total spent on my PC including the original 2009 specs: $1339

It's in the sig. Probably ran me just north of $2K at the time of purchase (not counting the monitors...)

I built mines in 2011

AMD phenom II 965

cooler master 212+

GTX460 1GB 256 bit ver SLI

8 GB of DDR 3 1600 ram

msi MB

cheap 700 watt PSU(cant even remember the brand)

1TB samsung HD

2 free old HD from old computers(free)

old cd drive(free)

cheep ass case (once again don't even know the brand name)

some cooler master sickle flow fans.

So yeah i cant remember the exact amounts i paid for everything but this computer cost me in total somewhere $600 and $700. It has served me well for i wanna say 2 almost 3 years and still is. Some old parts but I OC'ed the cpu to 3.8GHZ and the GPU's 850 on shader and 1700 on the memory which gave massive performance increases. 460's overclock very well. As for gaming i still max most games at 1080p and I don't sacrifice much in terms of quality to get good frames for the ones i cant usually. I know for sure though that i will have one of the weakest rigs here which boggles my mind. This thread makes me fell like a bum gamer though compared to some of the other builds here. Still i think i did well for a poor college kid.

I built mine at the beginning of the summer.

i5-3570k @ 4.2 Ghz

Twin Frozr 7950

Gigabyte Z77-UD3H mobo

8 GB of ram

liteon cd drive

120 GB SSD

1 TB HDD

I believe the PSU is 620w, and I know it's a Seasonic

It's all inside a NZXT Phantom 410.

I think after buying my monitor, mouse, and keyboard it ended up costing right around $1500.

Ugh, lemme see if I remember correctly.

*nope but checking the pcs specs, after failed rememberance*

-----------------------------------------------------------

Intel 3930k

Asus Sabertooth X79 Mobo

Corsair H80 cooler

3x WD Caviar Black 2 TB HDD

Samsung 840 Pro 512 gig SSD

16 Gigs of Corsair Vengence Ram @ 1600MHz

Asus Xonar ST audio Card

EVGA Geforce 670 FTW

----------------------------------------------------------

Price: 4000$ but since my job shells out for half of it due to certain specs had to be reached I payied around 2000$ Overkill for gaming pretty much, but then again only thin in it ment for gaming might be the ram and the GPU.
