Hmmm this is tough, so I gotta break it down by genre.
FPS:
-Dark Forces (the first Kyle Katarn game)
-Halflife series
-Wolfenstein 3D
FPS-RPG Hybrid:
-Deus Ex
-Oblivion
-System Shock 2
RTS:
-C&C series
-Homeworld series
-Dune 2
-Earth 21xx series
Turn-based Strategy:
-Alpha Centauri
-Galactic Civilizations 2
-Total War series
Simulation:
-Tie Fighter
-Aces over the Pacific
-Independence War 2
Racing:
-NFS: Porsche Unleashed
City Building:
-Simcity 3000
-City Life
-Caesar IV
-Pharoh
If I had to choose one game right now, I would choose Deus Ex

Lets see...
you play from a first person perspective (be honest, the third-person camera was not practical at all), and the general feel of the game was more akin to a shooter than a full-on RPG. I felt like I was playing a fantasy-based Deus Ex the whole time, which is problably why I enjoyed it so much.
Its all subjective though. To me an RPG is Fallout, Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, etc.. Oblivion doesnt fall into that category, not only because it lacked the traditional isometric view but also because the RPG elements (specifically the story and leveling system) were extremely shallow, and the developers appeared to focus more on the "shooter" aspect than the RPG aspect of the game. The only time I was aware it was an RPG was every few hours I was told to go to sleep and the game "automatically" leveled for me.
To sum up, Oblivion has more in common with STALKER, Deus Ex, and System Shock 2 than it does with traditional RPGs. Thats why I consider it a hybrid. That may be hard for people to accept since "oh its got goblins and elves and all that RPG crap so it must be an RPG"...but if you look at the core gameplay, it is a hybrid in the purest sense. I mean the game even has a crosshair!
Games such as Gothic 3 and Fable are Adventure-RPGs imo, but since that genre doesnt "officially" exists I just call them RPGs.

That's a tough one there are so many games I had a blast with.
RPG/FPSÂ Hybrids -Â STALKER, the Theif series, and the DeusEx series.
RPG - Titan Quest, Planscape Torment, the Fallout series, and the Baldur's Gate series.
FPS - The Doom series, Quake 1,2 & 4, the Serious Sam series, Farcry, the Half-Life series, the Unreal sereis and Fear + expansion.
TPS (Third person shooter) - The splinter cell series and the KOTOR series (even though they are also RPGs).
RTS - Starcraft, Command & Conquer series, the Age of series, and the Warcraft series.
TBS - The Warlords series, the Civilization series, and Heroes of Might and Magic series.
Why are people always so curious on game forums what my favorite games are?
And why am I such a sucker for responding all the time?...
Anyway: Baldur's Gate 2, or ideally, the Baldur's Gate series would be my favorite of all time. Followed by Thief 2: The metal age as well as Thief 1: Dark Project, System Shock 2, Fallout 2, The Longest Journey, Freespace 2 & Planescape: Torment. For more recent games that I'd add to my list, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, SWAT 4 and Medieval 2: Total War.Â
Thar ya go, use the information for whatever nefarious deeds you wish. I can't put them in numbered order, that'd be too hard on my frail little gaming addicted mind. It's hard enough just picking Baldur's Gate as my favorite!
