What is your favorite setting?

Yeah, I like the tropical setting too. But I'm definitely a sucker for a game in outer space (ie. Mass Effect).

For me,that mostly depends on the visuals. With good visuals any setting can look great...

Of course,by visuals,I'm not refering only to technical graphics,I'm refering to art style,colors,aestethics,etc...

A recent example of a game whose setting I loved is Deus Ex HR.The black and gold theme present through the most of the game worked very well for me...

I love a good tropical setting (not that there have been many good ones since Crysis) but the atmosphere in Metro 2033 is like nothing else. Lighting is crucial, and as long as the environment is well textured, good lighting can make any setting spectacular.

I have no favourite setting. If the gameplay, story and art style are engaging, I don't care if it's post apocalypse, western, war-torn cities, deserts, jungles, icy wastes or anything else inbetween.

The most important thing is making me feel like I'm there.

Wartorn settings

Futuristic settings

I LOVE God of War settings. Places of ancient mythology and the sort.

Dystopian futures which are cold and dark, ie. Gears of War, and claustrophobic futuristic environment such as Dead Space and Doom. Creepy laboratories and space ships are great.

Urban environments mostly. Like GTA.

I love space set games too but only if they provide a decent story such as Dead Space.

Alien or "foreign" settings.

A lot of fantasyare lacking the actual fantasy aspect, what fantasy is there is usually so uninspired and drab. It lacks a certain spark of creativity.
