I'm getting a new PC soon and I would like to know where to start with my classic RPG's. This is your chance to tell me how to spend my money. If I left your actual favourite series out of the list please just say what it is and keep in mind that I was limited to 5 options in creating a poll.

I would never put either of the Diablo games in a list with these others... Action RPG is very different than turn-based.

So I picked Arcanum, because I had read an advertisement for it years and years ago and only recently remebered and found it and loved it. It's pretty much the same as the others in your list excluding Diablo, but I never had a game, RPG or otherwise, quite so effectively tear me a new one. Good for people that love to be challenged, and don't mind the fact that there's no minimap to go off of, or clear directions given from NPC's. :)

I feel sorry for the Icewind Dale series - I really enjoyed those two games, but they probably won't get any votes.

I went for Fallout, although I'm disappointed I couldn't vote for Ultima.

Arcanum is a great game, but it's only one game. you may want to put into its place Ultima or Wizardry instead.

as for which I vote, my sig says...

The first two Fallout games, definitely. Tactics was okay too, but 3 was just plain bad.

The first 2 fallout games, followed by the BG games, and rounding off with Arcanum ^^

Those games are so close however that it comes down to the setting you like the most: Post apoc, fantasy, or steampunk.

In the end Those 3 are game/series that I think anyone should atleast try to play.

Well, fallout. It started to be mainly because of the guns and a more modern setting and latter i started to like the right balance between combat, exploration and dialogues and loot.

Just plain bad? It had more exploration than the previous games and better enviroments and no this is not graphics related. Also it felt more like a fallout game than tactics which was more like leading a team rather having exploration, dialogues and a good story. Also no one mention the high usage of repair skill which was hardly used in the previous games and i cant belive that the developers did not thought of repairing weapons. Such a great feature for such game.

One of the first two Fallouts. Two really good RPGs.
