For me :
1) FPS
2) Stealth games
3) 3rd person shooters
4) Action\Adventure games
5) WRPGs
This topic is locked from further discussion.
1. Stealth and horror (preferably something that combines them, like Thief, System Shock or Penumbra)
2. RPG (WRPG only, both classic and new)
3. Turn based strategy/tactics (Civilization, X-Com, Jagged Alliance etc.)
4. Space combat/trade sims (Elite, Privateer, Freespace, Wing Commander etc.)
5. FPS (old school FPS and some of the more hardcore modern ones, like STALKER and ARMA)
6. Adventure (mostly older ones)
All other genres are tied, except the ones that I NEVER play, which are;
Sports, casual games and JRPGs.
WRPG=planescape,fallout,baldurs etc
JRPG=snes,chrono trigger,star ocean,ff6
FPS=Deus Ex,Halife,Dead space,Unreal Tournament
Adventure=Longest journey,Myst 2,Syberia
RPG's off all kinds, perhaps excluding JRPG's cause i never played any. Might try The Last Remnant though, when i get my VGA back. :|
Well, I'm openly willing to play any genre if the game is fantastic. However, over the years the genres I've been playing are FPS, MMO, TPS and Action Adventure. If you were to ask this question many years ago then it will be 3D platform, 2D Fighting, Role Playing, FPS, Side Scroll/ Shooters, Racing and Sports.
1. RPG - All kinds including JRPG's, Classical like Baldurs Gate or Diablo 2and New Age like Fallout 3.
2. FPS - FEAR etc
3. RTS - Command & Conquer, Warcraft, Starcraft
4. Adventure/Action
Just those, I don't really play any other genres. I play most of my games on my PC as I feel its much faster and smoother experience. But I love playing on my Xbox 360 too.

If we're talking PC-wise,
1. FPS
2. RPG (except JRPG. IMO those taste good only on consoles, for some reason)
3. Stealth
4. Racing
If we were talking in general, then:
1. Platformer
2. Stealth
3. RPG
4. Racing
1. Racing
2. FPS
3. Arcade
4. Action/adventure
5. RPG/RTS (although I rarely play them.)
As for 1 and 2, depends on time, really i should say I like them equally, but to be fair, I naturally accel in racing games over FPS.
1. RTS, easily
2. Sports (MLB, NFL2k)
3. Flight Sims (especially Wing Commander/X-Wing series)
4. Action
5. Racing
6. Rhythm
7. FPS
8. Platformer
9. Sandbox/3rd person
10. RPG
For PC:
1. RPG (Mass Effect, Oblivion)
2. Old-School RPG (Gothic 3, Drakensang)
3. FPS (BioShock, others if the storyline stacks up like BioShock's does)
4. RTS
JRPGs....well, I haven't bought any for the PC, they are just too linear. I've got a few on my PS2, and they are good games, but I prefer a RPG to be open-ended because that gives you a lot more options.
The SNES is the ultimate jrpg console.You wont find better jrpgs anywhere.I dislike most of the new jrpgs from the psx up.Actually shadow hearts was a cracking game for the PS2! only the first two though as the third was pants.RPG's off all kinds, perhaps excluding JRPG's cause i never played any. Might try The Last Remnant though, when i get my VGA back. :|
