I want to know what graphics cards have you people owned throughout the course of your computing life?

Heres mine

ATI Radeon X600 Pro 256MB June 2006 - end of July 2006 - The card sucked so I changed it

nVidia Geforce 7600GT 256MB End of July 2006 - August 2007

ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB August 2007 - Present

Future card - Geforce 8800GT or ATI Radeon HD4850

Not long after I bought the X1950, i went back to using my 7600GT for a bit since my old CPU was bottlenecking and my powersupply couldnt handle it proberbly and I couldnt get a good enough powersupply in that case. Ive only really being using my 1950 since ive built my new system which was two weeks ago.

At first it was some crappy ATI. Then some other crappy ATI. Then a 6600. Now an 8600. Hopefully within the next month: 4850 or an 8800gt.

First-->Nvidia FX 5200 or something I got with prebuilt.

Then-->ATi X1600 XT I got a year and a half later (It was like the second best AGP card they had)

Now-->ATi HD4850 to go with new computer Im building (Finally after 4 years)

Funny, I've always felt like I've been an Nvidia guy, and was hoping to get an Nvidia card again, but I'm finging my self with ATi again. I just might have to switch sides.

I'm in the same boat. I've always been more attracted to ATI than Nvidia, even back when Nvidia seemed to be the more popular, obvious choice. But alas, i have decided to go green on this build because of all the terrific things i've heard about the 8800GT. Maybe in the future i will return to you, dear ATI.

I had an X800 for 2 years in my Dell 8400; upgraded that to a 7900GS - WOW performance boost. Then upgraded that to an 8800GT about 7 months later - again, talk about performance boost: this is all on the same Dell. Now I'm building my own P, parts come tomorrow and I'll have my GT paired up with another one in SLI :D Life is good :)

Wow...cool topic! Anyways, this brings me back to the days when I had to argue with my friends that 3d acceleration was a worthwhile cause...all it took was them watching me run NBA Live 96...I think it was 96...anyways...back to the topic:

1.) ATI Rage PRO (Integrated)

2.) Intergraph Intense 3D Voodoo Rush 8MB (PCI)

3.) Diamond Voodoo 2 12 MB (PCI)

4.) 3dfx Voodoo 3 3000 (AGP)

5.) EVGA Geforce 2 Ti (AGP)

6.) MSI Geforce 4 Ti (AGP)

7.) ATI Radeon 9700 PRO (AGP)

8.) MSI Geforce 6800 GT (AGP)

9.) EVGA Geforce 9800 GTX SC (PCIe)

Wow...that took a lot of thinking...and brought back a lot of memories.

ATI Rage Orion for the old PowerMac 7500/100

Integrated Intel graphics for Diablo II and Starcraft mainly

Radeon 7000 (a fairly temporary machine that I only kept for a few months)

GeForce 2 Ultra (wasn't really gaming at this point) Later upgraded to Radeon 9250

Radeon X1900XT

And that's it really. I'll probably be picking up a new card here soon.

The only ones that matter, because when I started PC gaming DOS was around and Windows was 3.1 and couldn't play games.

Voodoo 5 5500 back in 2000

HD 3870 in Crossfire since beginning of this month.

My laptop has a Nvidia Geforce Go 7400m

I just recently got back into PC gaming.

Went through many integrated platforms before I got to my first dedicated card: the Radeon X300. It took me about 3 years after that to get ambitious enough to "upgrade" to a broken 8600GT. However, I didn't know this was the case and put an ad up to trade it for another card (thought it might've been my PSU not willing to power it up). Seems that I got a 7900GT for FREE from the guy that emailed me! I later sold this card for 80 and got a 7900GTX for the very same price.

TL;DR

Integrated x100000000-->Radeon X300-->7900GT-->7900GTX.

I hope to be the proud owner of a 4870 someday =]
