I'm in the UK and I'm with Blueyonder from Telewest Communications, which is one of the more high profile cable ISPs in this country.
Currently I'm on a 2Mb down - 256k up line which is being upgraded at no extra charge sometime before January to a 10Mb down - 350k up

for 10MB down thats pretty crappy upload speeds. You should at least be at 1MB up. I guess your ISP doesnt like people uploading stuff.CarnivaleClown
You'd understand better if you lived in the UK. Low upload speeds for consumer Broadband are the norm. The standard is ADSL, as opposed to DSL, and the 350k upload speed is very high compared to other similar ISPs offerings in the UK. I can't complain either, since my net usage is almost soley downstream focused anyway, plus it's a free upgrade.
Oh, and by 2 and 10 Mb respectively, I mean Megabits.

Yes, the upgrade process will be happening between September 2005 and January 2006 and works like this.
512K upgraded to 2mb
1mb upgraded to 4mb
2mb and 4mb (elite packages) will be consolidated and turned into the 10mb package
All the pricing remains the same, except for 4mb I'd imagine, since it doesn't make sense charging previous 2mb customers less for the same 10mb service than for previous 4mb customers. The upstream speed is different on the others too, but I don't recall those changes off the top of my head.
Instead of saying what your max is why don't people really say what they are actually downloading at. I find it hard to believe everyone is getting these ridiculous speeds when using fiber optic only gets you 5 megs/sec .c335harp
Verizon Online DSL
D/L 3.0MB/s
U/L 768kb/s
I usually get about 350kb/s download speed and about 650kb/s u/l
Well I was thinking people were actually downloading this fast on Cable modems. Parts of Sacramento get Shurewest (previously Winfirst) fiber service who is now offering 20 megs up/20 megs down....that is just silly. They do have caps, however, although I know someone who went 170 gigs over the cap and wasn't charged.c335harp
