Sorry, thats quite a bit more than 5, w/e
Let's see..
MPC-HC (Best video player for Windows, and tied for best video player on any OS with MPlayer. DXVA support is awesome, nothing like playing a 1080p H.264 video with ~1% CPU usage. Very robust player feature-wise, yet it still has a simple interface.)
foobar2000 (Best music player on any OS, period. Supports decoding for pretty much everything. *Proper* Unicode support. Great front-end for encoding (it can support pretty much ANY command-line encoder.) Extremely customizable. Also, foo_dsp_delta is godlike.)
Notepad++ (Best text editor for Windows.)
HydraIRC (My favorite IRC client for Windows.)
Firefox 3.5 (Maybe not as fast as some other browsers, but by far the most customizable.)
HandBrake (awesome little transcoding utility.)
ImgBurn (burning software)
Notepad++, which I use for just about everything from PHP scripting to batch files and NFOs.
HoboCopy, which is good for incremental backups run from a command-line or batch, and grabbing cached YouTube videos out of Chrome - which proved notoriously hard without VSS.
ProcessExplorer, just so you can determine where all that RAM and those CPU cycles have really gone.
AssaultCube, because it's fast, insanely versatile and uses almost no bandwidth. And, well, free.
Fedora 11. Screw the haters.
