I ask because to my surprise I'm able to get 40-50 fps with DX11, very high, advanced physx on, 4xMSAA while playing it in 1080p with the only thing turned off is advanced DoF with my 560 ti. I was only expecting to get around 20fps and that the only way to get over 30 was with a 580 or something. So just out of curiosity what kind of performance do you guys get with these settings? Also state what kind of gfx card you have

At your settings, you might as well play on DX9 and get better fps. The visual difference is next to none.

30-15 FPS on DX10 Very High on 1920x1080 with PhysX enabled and AAA. I would use DX9 but the object motion blur looks so pretty XD

AAA All settings maxed except DoF.

All CCC options maxed ( V-Sync forced on ) 40 to 180 fps...I don't think V-Sync really works in any other STALKER game either.

I was able to run it at good frames with high settings, but I did need to drop the resolution from my native resolution to one step below. Still looked good though. Pretty sure I turned physx off too. Its been just about the most demanding (or poor optimized depending on your viewpoint) game i've played on system.

I call major BS. Post a benchmark result. No way in hell you're getting a stable 40-50 frames at those setting.

That crashes me..

25-60 fps dx11 with advanced dof off, everything else on it's max 4xaa. 1080p, 5850, i7920, 6gb ram. That game really bogs down with lights... Still, w/o dof, it remains 100% playable at all times.

DX11

It can be anything between 25-40FPS. I would say an average of 30.

Average of 20FPS on high with V-sync off and AA at 4X on a 1440x900 display. Going to lower the AA to 2X and see if that helps.

Don't own the game but I get 50-55FPS average at 1080p with 4xAA with my two HD 6950's and i2500K on the demo. It dips to the low 20FPS at times and sometimes it jumps to 100FPS plus.

Why not try. It is not that demanding. I played it at an enjoyable framerate on very high DX10 with my old 9800gt and AMD 6600+.

Oh okay. I see. It's not impossible that you're getting great fps in Metro 2033. I mean, your GPU is overclocked to hell and back. And you have the GPU-hog effects turned off. Looking good man. 8)

And I'll say it again, Metro 2033 is less taxing on my PC than Crysis. Metro 2033 seems to run a lot better and runs well with overclocked GPU's.

Yeah STALKER games say they have vsync but when you quickly pan the camera you can see the tearung, and about metro DOF has pretty huge impact on performance, and I wouldn't mind sub 30 fps on sp games in multi it makes difference.

Yeah the tearing during lightning storms was awful even with V-Sync forced. But it wasn't the tearing so much as it was the FPS count... V-sync should keep the fps at 60...but in Metro 2033 I got anywhere from 40 to 180 or even higher...I think 213 was my highest. Same with all STALKER games. All I know my rig made this game ( and all other games ) it's lap dog. Even Crysis 1 bows before it. Crysis 2 doesn't even give my rig a decent workout....not like Crysis 1. i7@ 3.6 9 gig ddr 3 1333 5970 HD OC 2x 120 g SSD ( Striped )

You forget to mention you have a second GPU dedicated for PhysX. :P But nice performance, nonetheless.

My 5970 gets about 50-60 average, all settings maxed (except for AA since the high end AA in that game is way too hardcore for any current hardware), vysnc on at 1920x1080. Obviously there are still places where the FPS will dip down for a bit (especially in the game's prologue) but it doesn't happen too often.

I prefer to max out Metro as best I can. Obviously turned PhysX off and had everything on very high on DX10. Here is a picture of how it runs

I refuse to play it until I get a better GPU. The game looks far too good for me to turn it down. Plus the atmosphere is second to none.

From my experience, I can tell you that having a better GPU is totally worth it in this game. Its brilliant in terms of atmosphere and sound (not GPU related of course).

So yeah wise decision to wait.

Hahaha yup. So true. I played maybe 3 hours of Metro 2033 and waited until I purchased my second GTX 460 1GB before I continued. (this was awhile ago)

I played it a while ago before the benchmark came out. I was running it on Very High in dx11 (because it's actually faster by 2fps than dx9) and i had the dx11 features turned off. I was getting relatively smooth frame rates, the average was around 45 i think. The only time it really dropped was when there was volumetric lighting/light shafts/god rays, chose whichever name you want to call them haha. I just remember it looked SO GOOD when i was running it and i never got annoyed that it was lagging so it must've been running pretty well for me.
