What made Age of Conan fail?

I'm kinda awed on how there arnt a lot of players in AoC right now and why it isnt 2nd best to WoW. :o

I just picked up a copy of AoC and got a free 60 day game card from a friend of mine and my god this game is great!(im lvl 35 right now)

Does the experience die out end game because it seems like it dosnt all I hear in the LFG channel is raid after raid after raid.

The combat is immersive and always keeps you going. And my god the music in this game is just pure awesome and mind blowing and makes me feel like im in a lord of the rings movie :o.

I'm not hating on WoW I mean I still believe it's number 1(and will stay like that until Blizzards new MMO) but why isnt Age of Conan number 2?

Was launch that bad did you guys who were at launch give up after trying to like it for so long? If so you should come back to those of you who hated launch it's truley a great game :o

I played it to about level 30 when it came out. I stopped playing because I just never really met any people, and never got to do any instances or see any real memorable things in the game.

The game has gone through some major updates and is better than ever now - the new expansion also has added some much needed new content and other experiences. There were multiple reasons why the game failed on launch... the obvious ones being the game was shipped with tonnes of bugs, not enough content for high leveled players (and if I remember correctly, a certain bracket (maybe 50-60? or something) there were absolutely no quests so it was pretty much grind until new quests were available), the classes were insanely unbalanced at high levels, etc etc. It was certainly pushed out WAY too early and lost it's initial player base. If they had spent the extra time to polish the game, it would have made for a great successive MMO. Which isn't to say it's not successive now - the expansion has bought many players back (despite only having 4 servers to play on). I see players around all the time now, unlike last year where the game was almost empty.panicbroadcast
