DOOM 3 I wanted this game for a LONG time before i got it. Then i got it and got 20 fps on lowest settings. havn't played it since. but it got me into computer gaming even though i don't play too many new games lately.
Half Life 2. I asked my parents for a computer for my birthday just to play it. It was 2 years after the game came out. I still have the comp of course but me and my dad are building a computer like next week.
Open source? The abillity to be a part of other peoples creativity... just the way that people build their mods, they way they make their clan websites, how they host their tournaments...
consoles are these little closed of enviorments. there is not left much to the imagination, I think.
particularly 360. they make a big deal out of being able to download trailers... and paying to download screenshots. + the nice addition of a monthly fee, like the P2P service that it is, actually needed it
I felt that there were more in depth gameplay to PC games so I just stuck with them. First game I played for PC was Outlaw and really started to get into it with the original Rainbow Six.
Things that got me into it:Â Keyboard/mouse, improved gameplay over consoles, superior games, Starcraft, mods.
Things that make me want to quit:Â 12 year olds that think "BOOM HEADSHOT" is funny, and crappy ports that should be made first and foremost on PC and not ones that can barely run on PC (yes, I'm looking at you Ubisoft).
The Monkey Island games, Wolfenstein 3D, and Falcon 3.0. Actually.. the other old Microprose sims too. F-117A Nighthawk, F-19 Stealth Fighter, F-15 Strike Eagle II... and Tie Fighter. When I first started playing, it was basically exclusively adventure games and flight sims of one sort or another.
Need For Speed 3. The fact that it was possible to download your own cars and stuff, I'd been playing PC games years before that, but that's when it hit me.
The first PC game that caught my attention was Dune 2. At that time it was so different then anything that I had ever seen and made me crave for more RTS games...Also Duke Nukem did the same. At that time you just couldn't find games that offer anything like that on consoles.
i just started around the time of half life 2 and far cry, so it was pretty much the graphics, plus i had never really played an FPS before, i only played sports and action adventure games on my ps1/lps2....
