Poll What monitor would you get? (24 votes)

2560x1440 @ 144hz 88%
3840x2160 @ 60hz 13%

What would make more sense to you as a purchase?

I personally ordered a 2560x1440 144hz BenQ as I feel not only is support or computer hardware not exactly ready for 4K gaming, but also the refresh rates are terrible, what are your thoughts on this?

4k is pretty pointless right now.

if there was a card 2x stronger then the titan and 4k monitors that were at least 144hz, then i would say 4k. But wait 5 years and we will all be saying 4k. Right now 1080p/1440p is a lot more enjoyable for most games.

For some reason 4k has been forced out the gate with tvs even though there is so little material that even uses it. The crappy satellite providers can't even provide proper 1080p video that isn't compressed to shit. I can't imagine how badly compressed and pixelated 4k would look.

I think for some games, even right now you could have a really nice looking game at 4k, but any fast action game i wouldn't want to try it.

I wouldn't buy something with a TN panel. An IPS, PLS, or VA panel with proper color and viewing angles is far more important to me than refresh rate.

1440p 144hz. I prefer a smoother gameplay over picture quality.

1440P + 144hz looks amazing and is smoother then 4K 60hz. Plus, you don't need 4-Way SLI Titan X to drive the monitor.

there are almost no choices for 1440p AND 120hz-144hz right now. you are pretty much stuck with paying 800 dollars for a ROG swift. the only reason that thing is so expensive is because of gsync too....

There's the Acer Predator 27". It's got a better panel for the same price if you appreciate IPS.

What's wrong with yours? Why do you have to return it?

800 dollars for a monitor is a joke.... seriously. i dont care how smooth or nice 144hz is, that is an obscene price point. until they get the technology down to around 400.... it is a complete luxury item.

i'd get 23" 1080p @ 60hz. i can max out games with a single GTX 970 then.

i don't think it's worth it if you go 1440p or 4K, because the screens are much more expensive, and you'd need to go SLI. all that extra money just to play on a bigger screen.

the pixel density is also pretty close; 23" @ 1080p = 95 PPI, 27" @ 1440p = 108 PPI. i'd personally choose better quality IPS panel instead of the minor improvement on PPI. it's cheaper too.
