ok just a question what do you guys think requires more skill counter strike or quake

IMO i think its quake since there are so many things going on at once your constantly getting shot at and have to watch for your health

and in counter strike not all but the most used guns only take like 3 to 5 shots to get kills the ak will kill you if your 1 on 1 with another guy and will lower your health like crazy until you die you have sniper which is 1 shot kill to the head and the handguns (deserteagle which take about 3 shots to the body to kill

so im just saying maybe quake requires more skill and understanding of the map knowing the spawn locations so you know when to get more health or when to go for the object you want .

what do you guys think all in your opinions and leave it at that

Quake series for sure, but for more than what you mentioned.

The speed of the game is much faster in quake, different weapon types require different placement of your shots taking into account weapon splash, the delay in the firing of the rail gun, ect.

Strafe jumping uhh if you ever see any quake 3 video's? strafe jumping is a sport within itself. You can seeclans that make videos of ONLY trick jumping - nothing else!

Aiming. In counterstrike most of your oppenents are at the same level as you. Where as in quake 3 you might see one player jumping across a lava pit SHOOT someone down who is also jumping in mid-air in another direction all the way across the map. There is no vertical element in CS

I love CS still though, but even I know quake players are far superior, far more "athletic" if you will.

Most definitely Quake. To add to the comments,

- You have to know the map so good that you have to be able to strafe jump around it backwards. Also know how to get across the map as fast as possible through certain shortcuts, and in general just knowing how to cut ppl off.

- Timing items, such as Red Armor(RA), Mega Health(MH), Yellow Armor(YA).

- Control, obviously you need to control them, and keep it for the whole 15min of the match.

- Controlling weapons, if someone has really good rail, or rockets, ya, its wise to keep it from them most of the game.

- Spawn Raping, seems wrong, but it adds to the game, knowing where they spawn, and how the spawn system works is just part of the game. If you dont know how to spawn rape/places, you will never be a top player.

So much more, but I'm not here to give lessons =). But if you would like to learn more just ask.

Now there is also trick Jumping, that takes more skill with the movement, and if you have seen some movies, you will know that strafe jumping is limitless. Ive been playing for quite some time and I still cant do a lot of the maps. If you have q3, google Defrag, its a trick jumping mod. Super fun. Also google a movie tutorial called Quake 3 Genesis. It will teach you how to do some good tricks.

Quake is not just a game, but its a lifestyle that many people live. Visit www.esreality.com, tons of tournaments going on, and its a site for competitive gaming, but mostly there is a lot of quakers on the site.

I give my respects to the CS players, but IMHO quake is just so much funner, and I love its fast pace aggression style.

CS has more players but that doesnt mean its better, just means its easier to pick up and play. Most ppl in Quake in there very first duel lose really bad and do a /quit and never come back. Its sad really as a quake player and lover I would love to see it get as popular, but I understand that the game is not for everyone.

Honestly, I cant comment on quake 4 or 2, since I only play 3. But wow that game is seriously like non other. Its pretty much a lifestyle like that guy above me said. If your new to the game...get better then join a clan, and start doing tmd and ctf. Once you become known and good and join a good clan, this game is like non other. Id say this game is probably, the fps that has the most deph and skills required.

Sorry. but I think CS and CSS compared to Quake is just impossible.

Both games are different, and not possible to compare.

I prefer Counterstrike and I find it takes the most skill.. In the old Counterstrike it was one of the few games where I could still kill multiple people with 1 hp.. In games like Quake and Unreal Tournament not so much.. Not to mention Counterstrike is one of the few games imo where you actually have a feeling of self upkeep in the sense you do care about dieing.. Way more then I ever did in Unreal or Quake.. May who cares though its down to opinions.

Cant really compare those. As mentioned above, a UT vs Quake discussion would be much more appropriate.

Depends.

Different types of FPS.

I'd say quake edges it out.

I think CS for two reasons.

The first is that a much higher level of accuracy is needed. Quake is often a spray n pray game, and some weapons have splash damage. And none reward for headshots. The only weapon that takes crazy accuracy is the rail gun.

In CS, you have to be much more accurate to stand a chance at the higher skill levels.

The second reason is that to be a truly great player in CS, you need to not only be able to be a fine player yourself, you need to be able to work effectively in a team as part of a unit. High level clans that I've seen (but never participated in because I suck the big one) move with a military-style cover-all-angles vibe, and watching the better clans breach a room is awesome. Multiple takedowns in all directions.

Quake... just doesn't have that.

But yeah, both games - to be truly great - take a profound level of skill. But I think in general terms, a player will find it harder to be good at CS than Quake, if only because it's a deeper game that requires a greater degree of accuracy.

Accurate? o you mean shoot small burst or single fire? come on everyone knows that.

Meh everyone knows at the very lest 70% of CCS players use hacks (clan servers are the worst the clan hacks but bans anyone eles that does it)

Meh again, how do ppl realy work as a team in CCS some go one way others go another and yeah you cover each other, watch flanks ectbut thatisexepected of you in any team online game ,it seperatas the n00bs from the ones that use there brain.

Meh x3 , the only reason its hard to become good at CSS is because of all the hacks for god sake! if valve released some super anit hack program i bet most of those "great players' would turn into total n00bs.

This post is not aimed at you btw, And just so you know i despise ppl that need to hack! GRRR :P
