1024x768 to 1600x1200 for modern games, whichever I can handle (don't like going down to 800x600). Older games from early 2000's and late ninetees I usually play at 640x480 to 1024x768, since back then upping the resolution meant a tinier HUD and crosshairs and text and all that (only in games where this wasn't the case would I go all the way to 16x12).
1680x1050 here; even if they stutter a bit. You have to play games on native for them to not look like crap, it's the reason I haven't moved to 1920x1200; even if my hardware supports some games at it.
currently playing hitman blood money at 1024 by 768 and everything else cranked up, except with 4aa. anyone know why my 8600gt cant max it??

your graphics card needs upgrading thats why you cant max it :) i would prefer to play at my native of 1440x900 but it never turns out right either no option, or the screen is half off, so actually the only res that fits my screen properly is 1280x1024 second best is 1024x768

You know some LCD's can scale various resolutions and aspect ratios so that you don't get any stretched out pixels or distortions, right? My dad's widescreen LCD can play fullscreen resolutions just fine, and they don't look odd at all.
800x600. I know... You might think that I have bad taste with graphics, but the thing is that my video card is an ATI Radeon Express 200. It came out in 2004 so it's not that good... Well, at least it can handle World In Conflict on Medium and sometimes High.
at the moment 1360x768.... but tomorrow will be 1680x1050... if the game doesnt support it ill find something on it at widescreen gaming forum wiki,,, and if not there then the highest i can play it on.
1680x1050 / 1680x900 for WS games, 1280x1024 or 1280x960 (more picture) for older 4:3 only games. With at least 4xAA on all resolutions. Exception is Crysis/Crysis Warhead - 1440x900 and NoAA...
At least 1600x1200 since 2001, it's upgrade time if I have to go below that. After a game is a couple years old 2048x1536, can't do that with new games usually, won't spend over $350 for a card until I get a decent long-term job.
yeah i feel you im about to be myself, except on an LG 22" with 2ms response, 10,000:1 color contrast ratio, and same resolution.. dvi-d as well... gonna be sweet..
If a game is very resource intensive, I run it at 1440x900. If it doesn't take a lot of horsepower to run, I play it across three monitors at 3840x1024.
