I'm looknig into a new monitor and there seems to be quite a big price gap between 1920 x 1200 and 1920 x 1080. So I was wondering which resolution monitor do you use?

Also what kind of size monitors do you have?
At the moment I have a 1680 x 1050 monitor, do you think that there's much ofa difference between that and 1920 * 1080? The difference in pixels is 309600
Well what resolution you "want" to game at will determine what video card you should get. Well most people game at 1680 x 1050. 1680 x 1050 monitor will do you best if you don't plan on upgrading soon. However, if you get a 1920 x 1080 monitor then you won't have to get a higher end monitor again when you get a 5850 or 5870 for example. ;) :DI'm looknig into a new monitor and there seems to be quite a big price gap between 1920 x 1200 and 1920 x 1080. Doesn't it strain your eyes sitting infront of a 24" monitor?
I use 1680X1050 and the only reason I went a little smaller at the time...I'm afraid as the system ages (like 6 mos from now) games will be harder and harder to run on a resolution that is too high. If you're prepared for upgrading quicker than go with the highest resolution you can get. I would say you definitely want to go with Widescreen though.

Well it depends on how far you sit from it. if you are like 2-3 feet away then you should be alright ;)[QUOTE="caiadas25"]

No it doesn't. It isnt that shiny that i need to wear sun glasses 8) lol but if you are sitting in a completely dark room than yeah.
Just make sure you are in a room with light either natural or artificial ;)
I've done some thinking and seen as though all of the 1920 * 1200 monitors that I can find are 24 inch and therefore the pixel density will decrease compared to a 22 inch 1080p screen anyway and because of the lower cost I think that I will go with a 1080p 22 " screen such as this. Thanks for all of your advice :)
I need a widescreen monitor, was tempted on getting a LG Flatron but I am planning on getting a new TV and knowing my wife Im pretty sure she's going to want something drasticaly bigger/better than what we have now meaning that im looking at wasting £800+ on a TV that I dont even use, apparently consoles in the living room make me look childish infront of her posh uni friends.

i have an odd 16:9 res it is 2048x1152. all games support it so far and its nice for movies too. great monitor :)
[QUOTE="Luminouslight"]I recently bought a 24 inch monitor with 1920 x1200 for $170 :D .Jdbuccwhere did ya get it and do they have any more I actually posted it on here a while ago... It was on Newegg. The FDH2401 was originally $189.99 (typo on my part in the post) and I ordered it later canceled and then resumed it again. It came with a free $20 rosewill monitor cleaning solution, but they were out so they subtracted $20 off the total price making it $169.99 Free shipping. Awesome deal. Monitor works great. Obviously it has its flaws, but for what it is meant to do it does well.
it's all just more size the quality wont be any different. not worth it if you ask me.Also what kind of size monitors do you have?

the quality is practically the same on every monitor what ever the res is, just some are bigger than others. pixels are the same size and spacing on a 1680 x 1050 and 1920 x 1200 just one is 22" and one is 24" you buy more size not more quality. plus 22" 1680s tend to have faster response times. While the difference between 1920x1200 and 1920x1080 is negligible and not even noticeable by the human eye on average, the difference between 1920x1080 and 1680x1050 is substantial and quite noticeable.
