Alright so i just bought a new laptop for 700 euro's

The specs are

AMD ATHLON 64 X2 DUAL CORE PROCESSOR TK-55 1.8ghz

2 GB OF RAM

NVIDIA GEFORCE 7000M/nFORCE 610M 256 mb (785 something shared)

And like i go to that website www.srtest.com and it tells me i can run supreme commander on low, rome total war on high, and alot of other games on Low and medium.

So im like great, and then i download the supreme commander demo and i cant even run it at the lowest settings i get like 12 frames a second.

And u buy rome total war and i can;t even ron that on high , only medium, some settings on high some on low (grass)

So whats the deal here? Is there anything i can do to improve my laptop, i downloaded all the drivers, but is there anything else? Or is this a lost cause.

Well help me out guys if you got some time to write a comment

Unless that is the only computer you have, I would not use it for gaming. Desktops are much much MUCH more suited for gaming.

That laptop isn't made for gaming, the onboard gpu is weak so theres nothing you can do. Not sure why you were expecting to play games like supreme commander on that thing.

Check your manual or manufacturer to see if it's possible you can upgrade your videocard. Not possible on all laptops, but possible on some. Laptops aren't really fit for gaming. Atleast the newer games...

im not trying to be mean but you have no clue what your talking about that website doesn't come close to telling you what settings you will run minimum and recommended are not settings i don't know were you gto this crazy that doesn't stand for low, medium and high. Just because you passed on minimum doesn't mean the game will necessarly run with good frames it just means it will load

I tell you this from experience.

I have a desktop pc it is a amd athlon dual 3800+ 2.0 and 2 gigs of ram with a 8600gt xxx 256mb with some other stuff of course and you know what I have trouble running sc and it is on low settings as well.

So I'm just telling you this cause there is no way sc can play on yours even at its lowest settings.

Yeah even i can run supreme commander on very low with framerates problems but its still kinda playable, so you need to upgrade a video driver, or something else, well yeah i just got a new job but im not getting a new desktop. It runs Rome total war fine and yeah thats fine for now, and i would rather play gta4 then crysis on my xbxo360

It is the GFX card, that is why you can't play. IMO, you got a bad deal even for a laptop.

Don't even bother to try and play games on a laptop, trust me, there are alot issues with graphics cards etc, thats why when you see minimum specs it says some laptop cards arn't supported, get a Desktop for gaming, using srtest on a laptop is useless, it says i can run half life 2 at best settings, yet i cant reach minimum for C&C generals. I cant play half life 2 and i can play C&C generals. Don't buy games for Laptop, if you do have a desktop, you might want to try and play on laptop and if it doesn't work go play it on the desktop. in the end: LAPTOPS ARN'T FOR GAMES! (im suprised an nvidia chipset doesnt work, because the fact i had some crappy intel one was the reason i couldn't play half the games i installed).

Sounds like you just got a bad laptop. There are plenty of laptops that are great portable gaming solutions (well provided there's a place to plug in where you are.). If you paid attention when buying it you would have noticed the fact that it had an Intel graphics card and it's commonly known even amongst people whose gaming experience consists of only Bejeweled and The Sims that those cards don't support any games at all.

For very cheap ($1200-$1500) you can find Toshiba and Asus laptops with Geforce 8600/8800s in them that will run all game titles just fine. They are by no means a replacement for a gaming desktop, but if you're looking for an ancillary machine, or are still in college, they are a great thing to own.

To the OP:

If it's not too late, presuming you bought the laptop from a dealer or retailer and not ebay or something, I would consider returning it. I have no idea what 700 Euros equates to as this is an American website, however the 7000M is a rather old, and low end integrated graphics card. Always shoot for the *600 for midrange and *800 for high with NVidia based graphics cards. Even if a Direct X 10 card like an 8600M or 8800M is out of your price range, you might still find some older models with a Nvidia Geforce Go 7800 GTX or 7900 GS in it.
