After installing OS you use the motherboard disk...Then go to download.com/cnet and get yourself a starter software kit(I recommend; but you don't need to)

If you can access the internet, go to the motherboard manufacturers website to get the most recent motherboard drivers. If you can't access the internet install the ethernet drivers off the CD then go to the website for the rest. Then do Video card drivers and everything else. At least that is how I do it.

Ok dude, start from the beginning. Did you ever get your HD situation in your other post under control, or is this the same problem? Cause you will not need any other disc other than the Windows disc until Windows is installed.

Are you using any raid? It sounds like it's asking for RAID drivers, download them from your motherboard manufacturer's site and load them to a USB stick (uncompressed ofcourse), insert USB stick when booting from OS disk. At the choosing which drive to install your OS on load the drivers from the USB stick and it should appear in the list.

RAID is basically a method to make 2 different HDD run as a single entity. If you only have one HDD, or just want them to run separately then you aren't using RAID.

Make sure your hard drive shows up in Bios. Then make sure you set boot priority to DVD drive. Pop in the bootable OS (restart) and it should ask you to "press any key to boot". If you havent touched anything in your Bios it shouldn't be set to raid.

If you set boot priority to the CD/DVD, then it will boot off the DVD/CD and show the OS installation procedure.

You should not need any drivers to install Windows 7. XP would need RAID drivers, but you are not doing RAID and are using Win7. Just continue with the installation.

Is this the screen you are stuck at?

http://spsexton.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/install-7.jpg

Do you see your HD in that section?

You might need to click on Drive options

http://spsexton.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/install-8.jpg

Then you can format your HD if needed?

So that screen just appears blank? Hmmmmm, I would try plugging the HD into different ports on the motherboard, doubt it will help, but easy to try. I really don't know what else to suggest, I am starting to wonder if it is not a defect HD????

Go to the motherboard manufactures site and download the ACHI driver if you want to use that mode (it is faster than normal IDE mode). Have the drivers on a floppy or USB disc and install them when Windows give you the option. Perhaps you have to press F6 during the early installation process - I haven't tried it with W7 or Vista.

OR you can just skip the problems and set the drive to IDE in BIOS, and you'll be able to install. The drive won't be running at the best speed, but you'll be fine - I was running IDE mod for years without noticing)

I think I had a similar problem installing Vista once, for some reason it was complaining about not having the correct drivers for the DVD drive that I had. I ended up having to install the OS from a flash drive. Instructions here Instead of having the DVD drive be first in the boot order, you'll want to switch it to "USB-HDD" or something close to that.

I had all sorts of probelms with my Windows 7 RC1 disk because I burnt it too fast. If you're gonna burn it, burn it at 1x speed, if not put it on a flash drive and copy its boot sectors.

After installing the OS make sure to download latest drivers for your hardware and here's some free ware anti virus and anti malware programs where you don't have to deal with Norton ack. Avg Free 8.5 Ccleaner A Squared Spybot and Defraggler if you want a faster defrag for cleaning the HD up a bit. hope this helps.

You can do it with ImgBurn, it's free.
