LM here,

I really like Samsung HDTVs because of their sleek look and great picture and sound. The thing is I don't even have a Samsung TV. I just thought this from what I've read about various models on the Internet. I really want to know what brand name of TVs people trust the most, so when I get my future TV I will be most satisfied with it. What type of TV do you own, do you like it and why?

My venture into the HDTV world started with a 53" Pioneer rear projection TV about 5 years ago....love Pioneer TV's but they just focus on Plasma now and even though they make the best plasma on the market, I have no interest in it. I would of loved to have seen Pioneer make some DLP TV's. Since then I bought a 50" Samsung 1080p TV and so far I am very impressed with the amount of TV you get from Samsung for the price. I paid close to 5k for my pioneer 5 years ago and the Samsung gives a way better picture for less than 2k.

I game on a 17" proview moniter (using x2vga adapter for xbox). I have a 10" portable dvd player from Insignia for movies and I watch cable TV on a 20" apex flat screen.

I have a rear projection Hitachi 51F59A.  I absolutely love the picture on this TV for it being a CRT projection.  The best thing about it is it has HDMI, it's 51", and it's only about $800.

Dont waste your time or money on 1080p unless you are going above 50 inches, just a suggestion.

Listen to what he's saying, use the same amount of money and get a 720p set, that way the money will go on PQ instaed of resolution you wont really notice.

...SXRD A series TVs are more affordable than Bravias, aside from the S series, but if you are comparing 1080p TVs, the SXRD is the most affordable option. Personally, I have a pair of Sonys. 46" V2500, and 27" Wega. If I was in the market for LCD I would go Sony/Sharp/Samsung in that order. Projection I would go for an SXRD or a JVC hd-ila's. Plasma... probably a Panasonic.

with reguards to the sony sets, arent the SXRD sets projection tv's and the bravia's lcd's, could someone clear that up for me. And for plasma's, pioneer are slightly better than panasonics but alot more expensive ( usually ), i have a panasonic though and its a very very good tv.
