i have a Hp pavilion modelA1730n. its stats are amd 4600 dual core 2 gb of ram 320gb hard drive and intergated 6150 geforce. and is has a pci express X16empty slot

i was thinking about getting a geforce 8800 but i looked up the power supply for it and its only 300W

and most geforce 8800 are 500w. so what card would be good for a 300w power supply?

also most people are gonna suggest getting a new power supply but i don't have the no how to that.

all your suggest will be helpful thanks

Two options really:

1.) Installing a new Power Supply is not actually that difficult. Do you know if your current Power Supply is a standard ATX model ? If so, it should be very easy to replace.

2.) As for graphics cards that should work with a 300W PSU, I'd say any graphics card that does NOT need extra power from the 6-pin PCI-E connector. This means that the Radeon HD 2400 and 2600 PRO should work, as well as the Geforce 8600GT and 8500GT.

That's probably the best idea. Then you can get an 8800 and play games with high detail settings at high resolutions.

BS,a 8600GT's can run perfectly fine on 300W PSU's,so can HD 2600's,the listed PSU requirments are overkill.
