Ok i got a new computer for graduation. I realize that its a laptop and its not a "gaming rig" necessarily its just for college so please nobody tell me stuff i already know i just want a straight up answer please. It's a core 2 duo 1.83 ghz with 2gb of ram. it has a ati 256 mb mobility radeonx1400 hypermemory. I realize this isnt going to run anything new but what will it do as far as older games go. like this would run halo 1 correct?

Yep, Halo will run on that. I'm guessing you have a laptop with one of those sexy 17" screens?

Thats a decent graphics card for a laptop. You'll be able to play less demanding games. Definitely halo, my friends laptop with an x300 can run it fine.

I would just download demos and see how they run, you can get them right on the game pages here at gamespot.

UT2004 would run very well on that system, as well as KoToR, if you haven't played through it before.

Download the FEAR single player demo and see how it runs, I have a feeling it will be enjoyable, post back with your results.

Cool, it will probably run just as well on the laptop as on the PS3 :P

Wow that's a neat prospect, playing FEAR on a plane... hmm...

I don't think FEAR will run very well on a X1400 Hypermemory...

It was a joke at how bad it runs on the PS3, I know the texture swapping would kill it, I'm just curious how fast it will run with that RAM to back it up.

To the Topic Creator / Original Poster: Here, some good games you might like to try.

Deus Ex (One of the best games of all time, IMHO. A rich branching storyline that was many years ahead of its time. Detailed weapon modifacations, bio enhancements, inventory system, etc. Superb characters. Deep and rich interativity with the enviroment. Did I mention it has one of the best if not THE BEST storyline I have ever seen in a game... yes I did but It needs to be mentioned again. This is the game all gamers should have.

System Shock 2 (Another best game of all time. Get all the latest mods and graphic updates for it too!)
Red Faction ( Good shooter with some revolutionary technology in it. )
Tachyon (Good space shooter. )
The Dig ( I don't know what gamespot reviewers were smoking when they rated this game but its a AAA to me. The storyline and gameplay are where it really shines at.)
FarCry (Old but pretty. )
Half-life ( should run... I think. )
Counter-strike 1.6 (Hacked up but still good.)
Unreal 2: The awakening ( good story, good shooter... ok characters... )
Civilization 2.
The Sims
Operation Flash point...
Delta Force 2 (This game has breakable trees!!! I had so many good times shooting them down and snipeing from under them!! Multiplayer is all hacked up though...)

Ignore my bad spelling.
