Chasis: InWin BR665 SECC steel MicroATX Mid Tower
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67-M LG 1155 Intel (Sandy Bridge Compatible)
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k Sandy Bridge 3.3 GHz
Solid State Drive: Patriot Torqx 2 32GB
Hard Drive: Hitachi Deskstare 7K3000 7200RPM 1.5 TB
Optical Drive: Samsung CD/DVD Burner
Graphics: XFX HD-687A-ZNFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8 GB (2133 MHz)
Power Supply: RaidMax 530W ATX 12V

I know nothing about monitors and am not sure if I need a specific one for maximum utilization of this gaming PC. It doesn't have to be top of the line, and I'd prefer one that is around $200 or so at the most. THank you guys.

Just get a 1920x1080 monitor with a 2ms response time. What is your price range?

21.5-24 inch 1920x1080 montior.

This would be a good example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236049

I personally prefer slightly smaller monitors like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236067

My budget is $200 or less. I don't want to spend any more than that for a monitor. Those 2 you linked seem pretty good.

Yea, the prices on 23" 1080p monitors is really the the best bang for the buck now, $130-$160 new. Some people say it looks crappy, but what I did is get a Asus 23" for $160 and than got a 19" 1440x900 off of craigslist for 30 bucks to use for skype and stuff while I game. Total under $200.

I don't need to multitask that much -- one monitor would be fine for me. So you would recommend an Asus as well? I seriously know nothing about monitors. I'm still using a 6.5 year old Dell one.

I will have to get the monitor fairly soon though, as my new rig will be coming in September most likely.

Both of those monitors that Tezcat linked got very good reviews from people who bought them, and multiple reviews state that they work great for gaming. I think I might end up getting one of them. I think the smaller one would be fine. Do I really need a monitor bigger than 21.5"?

Bigger, the better.

I'm sitting like 10-15 inches away from it though. I don't want it so big that it ends up being more overwhelming than enjoyable.

Yeah man, just go with the 21.5" then. Everyboy has their own preference, just like how some people only want like a 32" tv vs. a 55" one. If you don't want to feel sucked in to the monitor than the smaller one is great too.
