I'm planning on getting an Alienware laptop for college and to play games at the same time.

The one I've been looking at is called the Area-51® m5790.  Here are the specs for the one I custom made.

Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor T7400 2.16GHz 4MB Cache 667MHz FSB

Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium

17" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD - Saucer Silver

Alienware® Intel® 945PM + ICH7 Chipset

2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz - 2 x 1024MB

100GB Serial ATA 1.5Gb/s 7,200 RPM w/ NCQ & 8MB Cach

8x Dual Layer CD-RW/DVD±RW w/ Nero Software

256MB ATI MobilityTM Radeon® X1900

Intel® 7.1 High-Definition Audio

Internal Intel® PRO Wireless 3945 a/b/g Mini-Card

Integrated 10/1000Mb Gigabit Ethernet & 56K V.92 Modem

BluetoothTM USB Adapte

******® AC Anywhere 300W Vehicle Outlet Adapter

------------------------------------------------------------

How good of a laptop is this?  What would you rate it?  (I don't know how to tell how powerful a computer is and how good the graphics will be and all that:(...)

Terrible battery life/10.

But for performance?  Easily a 8.5-9/10.

Never doubt Alienware's computers. The one you've chosen is excellent for gaming, does it have an upgrade possibility? I think it does, but I'm not sure. Anyhow, yah battery life is probably very low, but there are lots of places ni the world where you can plug in and recharge ;)

 Good gamin comp,

very good indeed,

/K
