I am an inexperienced builder who is about to have a pile of parts here in a couple of days. I need a good guide that will get me from a pile of compontents to up and running on Vista OS.

There are plenty out there. Use Google, you will find plenty. Here's one from a forum I post on - http://tech-forums.net/showthread.php?s=ea5b1fab2f7903f5753904a1a0eb0650&threadid=108120

The best one I've ever found is at the Corsair Website...

It's really helpful, has alot of pictures, and goes into great detail...

Try every part in every possible socket. Then post pics. No, don't do that. :P The parts should come with some kind of guide. The motherboard manual should be your best friend for this project, as it will tell you where everything goes.

I love this site and read it 100 times before building this rig (my first). The parts are old ;however, you get an excellent step by step instruction on how to build a computer.

Yeah, man I know what you're talking about, I read that thing soooo many times before building my first PC, really broke everything down into simplicity for me...
