Having a modem for internet connection or wireless. Wireless seems to make the connection slower then the regular modem. Please tell me what would have a better connection and if it's that much of a difference.

A wired connection will always be faster and more reliable than a wireless connection. I get a ton of lag when trying to play games online using a wireless connection.

I recently moved my cable modem into the room with the computer for a direct connection and I haven't seen any lag since. Now I'm the one killing the suckers who are standing still while they lag out.

Yes, one other question, is setting up the cables hard? I heard you had to drill holes and stuff like that just to get it to your computer.

OMG wireless sucks! I had a wireless connection and I would lag all over. Though it was a cheap router and my friends claim they have no problem with wireless. With a LAN connection it's alot faster and I have no lag.

What type of connection do you have? If you're using a cable or DSL modem and there is a jack for that connection in the room with your computer, you can move the modem and router then directly connect to the router. If there isn't a jack for the connection, then yes you would have to run a wire under the house and up through the wall if you wanted a direct connection.

I have high-speed connection. Uhm this might sound like a stupid question but, I see a wire coming out of the corner of the wall and it is hooked up to my TV, could I plug that into my modem and get a connection?

If you have a cable modem, yes. Who do you get your internet from? (Comcast, Qwest, Verizon, ect if you're in the US)

Never had a problem with wireless. Always been easy to setup and my router was cheap. Never lag in games. Even when I'm on WoW/CS and a friends on the 360 aswell.

My download speed is 3.8mb, upload is 400kb incase anyway was wondering. My speed isn't amazing which proves wireless isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
