I'm not a huge PC gamer. What's better: Lower resolution and higher graphics or native resolution and much lower graphics?

I assume this is more of a preference question.

Always start with native resolution and work from there.

Native, otherwise you can't see. I would rather have trouble with lack of textures over having pixels flash their way across my screen.

Gonna say native, but if you run the game 1:1 on the monitor instead of upscaling, you might be able to compromise. This is probably only good for vram issues.

Monitors scale poorly so anything non-native will look awful unless it's displaying 1:1. If you're running it through an HDTV lower resolutions are a little more acceptable.

Depending on the screen, you could try lower resolution with higher settings and add AA to smooth out some of the jaggies.

I prefer to lower the resolution while keeping visuals effects on high.

Don't you use the GPU for scaling?

I'm currently using lower res (1080p) with high settings. For the life of me, 1440p is causing me so many issues... I'm trying to sell off my current monitor and getting the Asus 144Hz monitor.

That's cause the ignant consolites don't know what they're missing out on. Console-only gamers will tell you GTA V looks amazing. Yeah, the graphics are great, but at 720p and sub 30 fps, it looks horrid.

Native res as others have said, but remember you can always use windowed mode if you want to lower the res without scaling. It's useful for games where you're not that serious and want to multi-task.

Native. Have fun looking at blurry details and jaggies on a lower res than native.
