If this GPU (req 450watt PSU) is going into a PC with only a 300watt PCU?

Whats the worse thing that is going to happen? Will my PSU die? Not fully performing card? Can my vid card not work?

it may not work. does your current psu have a pci-e power connector? you should really upgrade your power supply if you're gonna use a card like that.

If my PSU is a standard HP one could this one work or last me up until a year? I need a PSU lower than $50.00 and that will last me at least a year and not fry my mother board.

if you buy a powerful power supply, it won't fry your motherboard. it will use the power that it needs...not too much and overload it.

check the dimensions to see if it'll fit. if HP goes with the standard you should be ok, but if they do their own sizes then it may not fit.

Your PSU:

http://itwinkle.stores.yahoo.net/hp35posu51.html

"THE COMBINE POWER ON +12Va & +12Vb IS TOTAL 300W MAX"

300w/12 = 25A

Thats more than enough to support a 4770.

No...your 12V rails add up to 300W at most, out of your PSU's total 350W. A video card draws power only from the 12V rails.

well let say : HD4770 is a little stronger then HD4830 and that 9800GT does Beat 4830 in most of benchmark :so you'd have to play at low resolution : example : 1024x780 and if possible 1280x1024. but doubtfully : but you'd not get low fps because of the psu : but Because of the card it self is not something to play at high setting's

Why would you get low FPS? If your card runs, it'll work as it should.

well unless you play them at Lower Gaming Graphic Quality it a sad thing Yes there is more then criyis S: but i speak in therm of power.. there is left 4 Dead 2 which prorbabely won't run max setting / Far cry 2 / Fallout 3 may lag a little / ect.. you can tell there more then that kaitanuvax but he asked about cryisis and i did reply the benchmark appropriate tot he Question but could posted 5-6 picture of benchmark if you guy wanted. just ask lol

Il bring more info if you need
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2009/08/26/galaxy-geforce-gts-250-1gb-review/4

how ever if it the 512mb or 1Gb is getting may change the fps. and the resolution he as. if it a 1680x1050 he as. then he can play at those
but the HD4770 is not expensive at all tough if he had better psu he coudl spended on someitng a slight better such as HD5770 / HD4890 1GB

it seem fair enough at 1280x1024 & 1680x1050 for Left 4 Dead but a bit unstable aet 1920x1200 (my resolution)

Ignore his rambling. You'll run nearly every game out there right now on 1680x1050 maxed.

maxed but with some lag.. and that with current game. not future game that will come. i belive most of game that would come with 2010 should use better graphic at high setting : Example : Bad company II / Left 4 Dead 2 / Dirt 2 and so on.. but it A good Enough video card for price ? I ain't rambling :P

seen tom clancy hawx who use a bit of nice graphic ? Well nto seem to be running well here.. but it maybe because of FSAA tough i find xbits lab benchmark to be pretty accurate in there test

but for maxing it seem to exclude far cry 2 & Cryisis & Warhead & hawx & probabely Dawn of war II and similar game... for going at high / very high on everything at last don't mean he can't half it.. or play it with only 30fps of 60fps.. and suffer some lagspike that out of him to figure that out i just come out to help

nah it won't break i told you previous post :D unless the psu as being running for longtime.. and a unexpected thing happen.. nothing guarantee if a psu from budget quality fail or not. my father 400W PSU that he bough with a case it was 39.99$CAD for Both a Standart P4 ATX CASE + 400W majorBrand PSU :

it still running it even did run a 8800Gs when the PSU Recommendation is 450W+ and highly recommend for 500W even from some company in spec. so . you must take all Video card Wattage Recommendation with a little grain of salt i know even people who run 4870x2 on a 550W PSU : it didn't break a sweat

First of all, why would you crank up 4xAA and 16xAF when you're going to dip below 30 FPS with little graphics gain? It just seems illogical and a unrealistic scenario / benchmark.

TC: Stop worrying. Just get the card, it'll work fine in your system.

why wouldn't yo u put 16XAF in a game ? I alway putted 16XAF in my game ? ever since 2001 : and beside i ain't the one who made the benchmark ? Where else must i hunt to show you it playing badly newest game on 1680x1050 ? when you claim else ? i donno what to show you. but based from what i hear. the HD4770 sure a good card but what topic creator resolution instead of trying to argue who benchmark more accurate ?

i know it max call of juarez : borderlands ect. bu twhat come to next comign graphic that does beat age of conan graphic at max and gpu power usage?

i also must take note driver update and that from a time to time a game that could give a mere 16fps in 6-7 month a patch & Driver update make it at 25-30fps which is standable. i tell him the card is good am i trying to make him buy another card ? no. is 350W IS just enough for that card I just warn him to not day dreaming of maxing 2010 Q1/Q4 game at higher then 1280x1024

iv tryed my dad 8800GS on fallout 3 at 1680x1050 on max. it not very good in my pc since i must wait my 4870x2 to being rma from visiontek waiting for it. it went defective so it must befixen

"I alway putted 16XAF in my game ?"

Doesn't mean everyone else wants to be a fool who plays at 15FPS, with hardly any noticeable graphical gain, just to receive bragging rights for cranking 16xAF.

well ? i ain't bragging about that.. i just say most of game being amxed in 16XAF . even my Friend ATI X300 does max woW at 16XAF at 1680x1050.... and morrowind Heck even my MX4 build-in on emachine H2604 could max most of my game. at 16X AF

but then mx4 started to lag so i went with cheap budget card 5700LE : it died 1 year after : bough a 6200GS : more power. but i could alway max my 16XAF from 1024x780 to 1280x1024. AA Is different tough.. : AF Does play a role on the Texture of the Ground mostly.

Tough if you did play without 16xaf ? i wonder why.. i never saw that of my living :(

You're missing my point here. If you were on the borderline of dipping into unplayable frame rates, why would you lessen it even more by "maxing" something as unncessary as AF?

yes id lower it. but id sure study the whole thing around playing with resolution to find the perfect graphic match. if i where to run old pc such as my Emachine H2604 that is dead.

tough i did once a while 4x AF & 8X AF to test if i could put AA when doing so. which i could but the AF Was a huge lost over AA
Were are sure on fire katuvax never did happen before with us. lol

anyway i just say based from bits tech : anandtech : x-bits lab HD4770 is renamed as best card for bang for buck but lack in maxing out game that as outstading graphic . perhap you have to go Trillnear Fitlering with those game
