The moment Shogun 2 was released the development team at CA apparently had already begun working on the next TW.
What do you think it is going to be?
What would you personally like to be made?

What I think it will be: Rome.
What I'd like it to be: Medieval, or something from an established universe like Warhammer or Star Wars.

Those are definitely viable, however, perhaps China? Currently that would be uncharted territory for them, something new.
They need to create a whle new concept for TW now.
1) Customisable troops - uniforms, weapons
2) Customisable environment, landmasses, terrain, buildings
3) Customisable campaigns, objectives
4) Cusomisable eras i.e Romans with spears and Guns or Samurai with blades and jetpacks
5) The ability to upload and share maps/concepts
Although I love TW, the reskinning mostly and refinning of the game is making it become a little tired and repeatative. I want something fresh
Empire was a fresh change of pace, although I think the scope of the game really got out of hand and led to the buggy mess that it became. They need to create a whle new concept for TW now.

Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai is in progress, and has some VERY cool and new features. Integrated land/sea battles, bombardment from sea, port sieges, player build railroads to speed troop movement, first person control of some units and so on.
As for the next full game I'd love a Rome 2, BUT it would have to retain the faction diversity of the original and not have copy/paste armies like Empire/Napoleon/Shogun 2.
I know it won't happen, but I'm tired of the conventional themes, Shogun really needed a remake it was ancient, but that's where it should stop imo.
I'd really like to see a TW in Africa.
People demanding a WWII Total War or a more "modern" Total War don't get it.
Total War has always been about formations, and that is what gives the game its sense of scale without being terribly difficult to control. Imagine commanding more than several dozen tanks for a battle or something. The pathfinding would be horrendous.
The pathfinding would be horrendous.The_CapitalistThat's the biggest flaw they need to overcome to make TW more than it was and still is, in a way, CA is too lazy with TW, it needs more, it needs to change, they've been giving the same formula since the first game. Personally I'm tired of flat battlefields with a few random buildings that don't fit with the map for more than 75% or so, it needs more, it needs vertical battles. Imagine a TW game, with cowboys and Indians, with more to it than just a flat square with random trees and some grass, vertical battles in canyons, more diversity to the way you fight, more diversity to gameplay, game mods, having to go through canyons and cover carriages from the cliffs and more fun and varied stuff like that (not just "Oh hi, I have city, you attack?", "Oh you have city, I attack" and finally "me army, you army, we go war"), better crafted cities, cities that aren't just some random walls applied on an almost randomly created almost flat surface that they made and still make in TW games. Right now this is the kind of TW game I dream of, but it's impossible, because it's nothing like any "lazy" TW CA made, it needs a lot of work,

Its an awesome series, but it needs more intresting encounters and maybe even more depth with the campaign map. i would love a deeper agent system.
That's awesome. Although the ai pathfinding isn't as annoying in TW games as Warcraft/Starcraft games.Total War needs the navigation AI from Supreme Commander 2. Look at this! Imagine how AWESOME the battles of TW would be with that AI. Man, in vanilla Empire they can't even move in a straight line.
