Valve is with no doubt one if not the best shooter game company. Half Life, Team Fortress, Counter Strike, Portal, Day of Defeat and Left 4 Dead are all unforgetable games or series. But whats next? Half Life 2: Episode 3 is coming, but what about the rest? Counter Strike 2 is said to be under developement. Team Fortress 2 will keep updating so no sequels should be coming any time soon. Valve has a zombie shooter, terrorist shooter, cartoon team shooter... but will Valve come up with something fresh and new? What do you think?

Well, VALVe is definitely working on Ep3, L4D2, Portal 2 and TF2 updates. They're probably working on Source 2, and then Half-Life 3 and Counter-Strike 3 as the Source 2 flagship games. Something new? I don't know. Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, Day of Defeat... not only is that a huge number of IPs, it's an extremely diverse range. Not since Monolith back in their heyday has there been a FPS company with such broad range. Whatever VALVe comes up with next, I'm pretty confident that it'll be something they assimilate from elsewhere. VALVe is a magnificent developer, but they've only come up with Half-Life by themselves. Everything else was bought. Wanna see what VALVe is making next? I guess look to the student and mod developers to find out.

Their L4D2 decision was crap IMO. We were waiting for a great DLC some time ago... and we got... wait for it.... a gamemode. Point is this; they are using the same engine, same gameplay and even gonna make L4D2 backwards compatible with L4D maps and campaings. So why not just give us the DLC instead of calling it L4D2?

Give it a rest with L4D 2 already, just read what they'll make out of it, with the A.I Director 2.0 and all, yeah I don't like this new "content" much but what it offers, other than characters, weapon sounds, daylight and a few maps, sounds extremely good, especially for future mods/maps.

Anyway, this isn't really up to Valve, but I really want them to continue working with Arkane (more like supporting) on The Crossing :(.

To me, it pretty much looks like HL 2 E3 will be shipped with Portal 2, since they said it will be a bundle (like they did with CS Source) and they hinted at these two games way too much for them not to be released at the same time.

I agree, I find it hard to justify 50 or 60 dollars for L4D, luckily I got it on a weekend deal with Steam for 25. I've probably played that game in all about 6 hours.

The episodes of HL2 are great, but...I thought they said they were releasing the episodes so that we wouldn't have to wait several years to play the next part in the HL universe. I think I would have preferred to just wait, instead of, well, wait.

HL ep3 will be great, I know it will, but I kind of want to see what they can do with NEW hardware (i.e. new engine), the Source engine is starting to show its age, I mean, it is 5 years old. L4D looks great, but I can think of many games that look better, though it is good that the game can basically play on any computer.

Personally, I think Valve should drop the L4D, use some of that REAL originality that I am used to from VALVE. Zombies have been milked for all they're worth in videogames AND film this generation. I want to see those creative minds at work, like we did in HL1, I want to see the beautiful and awesome alien environments that VALVE can come up with, combined with genius game ideas, such as the gravity gun.

While I do not support the idea of L4D 2 I do not understand the whole theres no way to justify a price tag of $50 for L4D. I am sorry but games like Fear 2, Mirrors Edge, CoD4 all cost the same and the first two are 5h long and so is CoDs campaign. So why are these games ok while L4D isnt. I have played 50 hours of L4D that is 10 time more than either FEAR or ME. By this logic CoD4 for 50 is also a misunderstading as its campaign is short and post release support pretty pathetic.

I think Valve's next big hit will be the Waiting Game.

I'm going to guess probably some sort of first person shooter which most people will think is an amazing game for reasons I can't really wrap my head around, as was the case with Half-Life 2.

There's multiplayer for both. l4d doesn't have a campaign just multiplayer with only 3 campaigns. In cod there is a singleplayer campaign, and a multiplayer mode with more maps.

I agree, I hope at the very least Valve will decide to allow people who bought L4D to get L4D2 at a reduced price. Because I'm not shelling out 50 bucks again when I can get it for a lot less a couple months later. Also for all we know next year they might pull the same crap and announce L4D3.
