What's the advantage of STEAMS BIG-PICTURE?

I don't get it. You have to take your PC to your TV and plug it in.....uh, can't we do that already? Why do we need STEAM's big-picture for that? I doon't get it, am I missing something?

Now when their smaller pc/consoles come out then yeah but I don't get this...

If you're using your PC on a tv with a controller, how do you expect to manage controlling steam's interface without a mouse? This solves that

I think it simply makes Steam more like a console or more comfortable as an HTPC. You could say that it was Valve experimenting with the idea of having their own console long before the Steam Machines were a concept.

A keyboard and mouse in your typical home theater setup is awkward and not all that great. Despite what people here will say, 99% of PC gamers don't bother with such a setup because it's incredibly cumbersome.

Steam Big Picture mode allows you to use Steam easily with a controller which is far more optimal for playing games in your typical home theater setup.

I use it for gaming in bed.

Another problem is that Steam's classic interface has small text. It may be tough to read at a distance.

It's great for games like Mark of the Ninja, but I wouldn't use it for say, Skyrim or Far Cry 3 cos the resolution would be crap.couly

i find it rather pointless really.

I have a 42" tv and can comfortably use m&k with it.(the cable is quite long)

Trying to use Windows 7 or Windows 8 with a mouse and keyboard in a living-room, home theater setup. Lots of cords, lots of small text, lots of annoying things.

Big picture mode helps quite a bit and SteamOS should be even better.
