Whats the best anit-virus software?

So I have a virus......yay. I haven't caught a virus for like 6 years, or at least not one that made my computer slower. So I didn't have one. Anyway, yes I'm an idiot and I'm going to buy one today. I was thinking Norton or Macefee but those are awfully expensive.

The virus I have says it disables Spybot and a couple other protection programs......dunno if that means anything, just food for thought.

I'm not too worried about having a firewall. More worried about going to a website and having a keylogger behind an ad or opening an email with something bad in it.

Also, does anyone know what a good HDD eraser is? I want to completely clean my hard drives clock. Then reinstall Windows. Retail would be best since I'm not trusting sites anymore.monkey_muffin

Best Paid: Kaspersky or Eset NOD32

Norton and Mcafee are absolute garbage. They're worse than a lot of free AV programs.

If you want to completely clean your HDD, run DBAN.
