Hi

I currently have Kaspersky protecting my pc but my subscription will come to an end in a few weeks. I think Kaspersky is primarily to blame for my slow boot up to windows. I was wondering if the windows firewall and defender virus scanner would be more streamlined and allow for a quicker boot up. I dont mind buying a firewall and virus scanner but if i go for the windows firewall/virus scanner are they safe enough to trust my pc to.

Thanks

hardware firewalls are superior to all others shame they cost 1k and work up from there. but software wise i here lots form komodo and black ice. however if you just want something simple windows defender does just fine.

im afraid hardware firewalls will always be superior to software still. and i personnaly wont eb switching to some underground firewall. i use f-secure and i have YET to run into any issues (besides one setting in there firewall messing up steam based fps which was a simple matter of toggling off)

you want to see something cool

still feeling safe with that credit card of yours :P

granted this news is from last year but the message is fairly clear still.

PFSENSE IS a hardware firewall. It's a freebsd distro. Just install it on a pc. Hell you can even install it on a pc with 1nic card, if you are using a managed switch after your modem and create vlans to your network.

I just use the Windows firewall + Windows 7 Firewall Control. Simple and good.
