Hi All,

I'm away from home for a few months and all I have is a surface 3 pro. It's got 8g ram and a reasonable processor, but no video card.

What are your top picks for games I can play without a video card?

Multiplayer preferred, I'll take any genre right now.. can't find anything!

Which processor is in it? the i3, i5 or the i7?

The i5 and i7 actually have decent IGP's that can play most games well enough.

Most games these days need graphics but onboard chip like the HD4600 by INTEL will run quite a few games pretty well.

It does have a video card or else it wouldn't show anything on the screen :P

Lots of older games works good I think.

GTA Vice Vity will run smoothly. At least it did on mine Intel HD4600.

@silvers100: The Binding of Issac: Rebirth. I have two video cards in my computer yet that game gets most of my playtime. It's great.

I hate to be "that guy", but why don't you try not playing games for a little bit?

I don't know where you are going and what you will be doing, but if it is a location more exotic or with a different culture than you are used to, it might be nice to remove the distraction video games provide and get out there.

With that said, if you are going from Somewhere, Calitexachusetts, to Nowhere, Nowhere and you're doing something boring all day like, idunno, coding or something, then I recommend:

-Many of Blizzards older titles, specifically Starcraft, Diablo 2, and Warcraft 3 (dont think Warcraft 3 requires a dedicated GPU)
-Deus Ex: its Unreal Engine 1, iirc I was able to run those games for years without a video card, and even when I did get a GPU it was a Riva TNT 2, and I am assuming any built-in option now is better than that :P
-If youre an RPG fan, a lot of old DnD/CRPG games are hand drawn with very little real processing power required. Can't name any specific titles, but Neverwinter Nights Diamond edition (or whatever its called) might be a good place to start. There's also Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, etc
-Alpha Centauri

@silvers100: It happens that I was in the same situation for some months, if you indeed have HD4600. My GPU died and it was near Maxwell release so I waited for Maxwell.

So what you can play with HD4600? A lot of things. Its not that weak as some people think.

You can run all blizzard games (except Starcraft 2 which I don't know). I was playing wow in medium settings at 1080p.

You can run Lol.

You can run ARPGs that have multiplayer like: Path of Exile, Diablo 3, Marvel Heroes.

And all these are games that I was playing at 1920x1080. If you have lower resolution, you will have better fps or higher eye-candy.

You can see a more completed list of what games can HD4600 play here.

Which processor do you have? Anyway, it's surprising how many games the HD 4600 can play. I'm currently in the same boat until I have enough saved for a PC build.

Shooters;

CS;GO

Team Fortress 2

RPGs;

Path of Exile

Diablo 3

MOBAS;

League of Legends

Dota 2

Strategy/turn based;

XCome EU

Civ 5

Fighters;

Ultra Street Fighter IV

Skullgirls
