HD 4850 1GB - $120 to $150 that would be your best option it is a great card and can handle almost all new games... It'll serve you well
or the GTS 250 - $150 but it is not quite as good
Go for the HD 4850 ; )

Who makes that card? Raideon? Yes the 4800 series is made by ATI and the 200 series is made by nvidia.Irecently purchased a pc and obtained a 250 gts with it, i heard it has a slightly better performance overall then the 4850 and slightly less power use.
If nothing else it comes with physX which i dont think the 4850 supports but the card did cost me 30 $ more.
Another thing that a friend told me was that DX11 cards were coming soon, how much are those going to gofor?
4870 (512) $135

512mb, only good for cross fire... it depends on res, for low res the 4850 will not be as effective as the 4870 512mb but the 4850 1gb would beat the 4870 512mb at a higher resolution ; )
Sum of FPS Benchmarks 1920x1200
with anti aliasing, 8AA (High Quality)
4870 (512) = 134 FPS
4850 (1Gb) = 119 FPS

467 FPS to 370 FPS without AA

4870 512mb is alway stronger then 4850 1GB Because it as higher clock and GDDR5 which is avaible only in high-end Ati gpu : 4870 & 4890 only Incoming 5850 / 5870 would all have GDDR5 as Well : tough it most of peopel say GDDR3 / GDDR5 don't really matter Because the way nvidia do thing with GDDR3 such as with 285GTX is Great
[QUOTE="ItsBriskBaby"]New cards like that will likly price in the $400-500 range heck the GTX295 is still in the 4-500 range. Not true - ATI is dropping mainstream cards simultaneously with their enthusiast cards - meaning we will see the entire price range represented in September / October, rather than simply the high-end part. If nothing else, it will cause a major shake-up for the prices of existing cards.Another thing that a friend told me was that DX11 cards were coming soon, how much are those going to gofor?

Hmm nice but still i would think your high end cards would be around $400 unless ATI surprises us this fall.Another thing that a friend told me was that DX11 cards were coming soon, how much are those going to gofor?

See I got a motherboard with an Nvidia chipset and I thought of keeping it all Nvidia, but if I can get an ATI card cheaper that will be suffice for me.go for the Nvidia card. Nvidia over powers ATI anyday

and for highest enthusiast for 5-10fps Extra then Ati Solution there is 3-way 285GTX Vs ; 3-way 4890 1GB VS 4870x2 Crossfire X & 295GTX Quad sli which will all of those solution perform in Extreme high performances as they are the top of power
But for single card & O.C It REveal that 4890 1GB is a Leader Even in Crossfire if you could have O.C both then it Amazing how it could surpass 285GTX by 3-4fps+ while cost less then 285GTX
But I must say A nvidia Fan that as bough a nvidia motherboard and maybe always bough Nvidia product in the past 7 year may think NF750 is a Great motherboard of Excellent Qualityand may think that nvidia will be #1 in all domain of price/performances for all time

Evga Gtx 260 core 216 probably the best budget card. You can find them for 150 or less. Check Ebay don't buy retail if you want sub 150.
Why are the gtx285's so much more money than the ATI cards with similar stats? There's like a $200 difference or so. lol That's a pretty steep price differential.TheUberKnightWhat card does ATI have that matches the GTX 285? The HD 4890 is in competition with the GTX 275, and if you check Newegg, you'll see they're about the same in price.

I guess the differences is the shaders and so forth.
