Hey, I'm hoping to be able to play games without having to worry about having any framerate issues or drop in performance, and I don't want to have sacrifice visual quality as a result.

Clearly, I know that I have a pretty tight budget, and I understand the differences between processors and the different types of RAM, but when it comes to graphics cards I'm pretty clueless.

I'm not looking to play anything like Crysis, but I would like to play Left 4 Dead and other Valve games, such as Garry's mod.

My question to you is:

What's the best PC specifications I can get for a desktop for under £400 (GBP), and (for those answering from in the UK) where's the best place to buy them for delivery in the UK?

I AM HOPING TO BUY AN ENTIRELY NEW PC

Best places are online and i'd strongly recommend if your going to buy the parts and build yourself: - Dabs.com - Overclockers.co.uk - Scan.co.uk If you plan on buying a pre-built one i'd recommend you can get good deals from the above websites but also Dell are quite good. Also, should this price include monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers? I've just had a look and pre-built systems that will play the games you want.. for that price.. it ain't lookin good bro :/ If you could stretch it to £500 that'd be a huge help for you.

The default is great. But if that extra 50 really matters then you can; choose the e5200, 4gb of standard 800mhz,smallest HDD, and cheapest dvdrw drive. I would say save for the 50 though.

Is also quite good for the price. Leave at the default. Over budget again.

The first is a much better deal, and the default is worth the extra (but not the light scribe drive). I assume you have a monitor & m/k etc. Hope this helps.

You should build it yourself. Do you have a monitor, speakers, keyboard and mouse etc.?

Ebuyer is good for cheap parts if you know how to look for quality, overclockers is also good but as they only sell top parts they charge a bit more

If you build it yourself, an amd athlon X2, and a 4770 with other parts will be around your budget, maybe more. Do you need an OS? If oyu build it yourself with this build you will be able to play most games on high with crysis on medium. :P
