GRAW 2 is one of the most realistic games i've played from movement to all shooting and gameplay overall
Operation Flashpoint and ArmA.
....
Honestly, how can you compare any other game in terms of realism to those two?
There is no doubt that Red Orchestra: Ostfront is the most realistic in almost everyway. I really look forward to more games in the future based off of the horrific German-Russo war of World War 2. It was the biggest front of all time, and the hugest amount of resources, men, etc with incredible bravery and insane heroics on both sides. Some great games could (and should) come from this war. The guys at RO: ostfront knew their stuff, and even travelled to Berlin and the Ukraine etc etc to see battlefields and weapons and things.
Operation Flashpoint back in the day would also definatley qualify as a great realistic FPS, i wish they'd make another one :)

Rainbow Six VEGAS ....you willl die depending on wich part of your body is heat ... for exemple 1once i sent my squad mates in front & 1one of hem was shot in the face ... mision failed + the realism of the game & motion of the characters is eye popping ! I recomend R6V to any1one who wants a realistic shooter but pls before starting it update it to the last version !beckoflight
You're the only person that says RS V is realistec

Maybe you haven't played enough of them :P
lol doom 1, nah, americas army looks pretty realisticthe_spartanator
looks realistic?? lol its too plain theres not enough texture and hardley any enviromental objects...but then again i suppose when dx10 comes out we'll see alot more detail
CS:S is NOT realistic by any means. ArmA for sure.F0R3V3RM0R3
Getting shot about 300 miles away is NOT realistic especially since you die within one shot and can't see your enemy at all.
Just because alot of people think it is realistic dosent mean IT IS, its there opinion and in mine i don't think its realistic and never will be.

What makes you think that Americas Army is going to use DX10? And I think it looks good

no sorry i meant DX10 in general not specifically for this game although they might make another american army for dx10.. but i just think the graphics are VERY plain thats all

I think its detailed enough, but the framerate drops alot though
ARMA, RO and the Project reality and Insurgency mods are the most realistic FPS that I know of at the moment. With ARMA being the most at the moment if you want to go past that you need to buy VBS which is made by the same people anyway. Amercas Army GRAW1-2 RB6V have limited realism as in how you die quickly but they have very arcadish features: RB6 vegas has its regen health and magic third person cover camera, AA you take too many shots to die so the game boils down to spam fights most of the time and GRAW has it's magic GOD vision hud.
Older realistic FPS would be OFP (which is the predecssor to ARMA anyway) Ghost Recon 1 on the PC, Rainbow Six series 1-3

The next AA will be built on Unreal3 Engine, so it should be quite pretty, I would except DX10 support as well, but I'm not sure. But the current one isn't bad looking either for an old and free game.[QUOTE="the_spartanator"]lol doom 1, nah, americas army looks pretty realisticxXSN1PERXx

Maybe you haven't played the later maps. Ragardless, the realism of America's Army has nothing to do with the graphics.

QFT. since when does amazing graphics = realism. Crysis won't be realistic because you cannot go invisible with a NANO suit in real life...
batlefield 2142 theres no campaign but its a good multiplayer shooter-lots of vehiclesMATSIMUS

Good graphics do not make a game realistic. crysis will be arcadey.
And gamerchris, it is impossible to shot shoot some 300 miles away with a rifle. Stop making stuff up about realistic games you dumb ***. also you do not always see the person when you are killed.
you know nothing about realism son.
I say, without a doubt that it's Red Orchestra Ostfront. I'm not usually into realism as is evidenced by Call of Duty United Offensive being my favorite game, but RO:O is damn fun. The support from the developers is the best around and the game is kept fresh by a wide variety of maps. If you haven't tried it, spend the $19.95 and give it a go. Zman68
Not in the least because it's really too simple. From my experience, realistic games tend to be complicated. It's a good combination of shoot-em-up mixed with realism though which makes it fun.
Op Flashpoint is pretty good as far as realism goes. I would expect the GRAW games are pretty realistic too but I haven't played em.
BTW, I picked up RO for less than 5 bucks new at K Mart, lol.
Eh, America's Army is realistic but it isn't that realistic, the training you had to do for the game was way more realistic than the actual game though.
I've gotta say Red Orchestra is the most realistic too, and GRAW2's PC version does a good job too but, your AI team-mates are idiots.
I played ArmA, and holy crap I couldn't stand it, what a crappy game, I don't even think I played the same game as people are talking about, I got a demo for it, played it, and ugh, it's just...bad.
Red Orchestra gets my vote.

QFT. since when does amazing graphics = realism. Crysis won't be realistic because you cannot go invisible with a NANO suit in real life...
In the year 2020 you won't be saying that anymore, Crysis is based off a military project and these nano-suits will eventually be REAL, they're "release date" is in 2020.
Although, almost no FPS I've played is that realistic, Red Orchestra is the closest it's gotten, but America's Army is the only game I've seen where a rocket launcher actually has back-blast.
I think Far Cry 2 is gonna take the title of most realistic when it comes out, although, it still looks hollywoodized (shoot a barrel of flamable stuff and BOOM, or, Shoot a box of ammo and the bullets go flying everywhere, which is stupid cuz bullets don't work like that, and I bet if you just shoot cars long enough they would also explode, but other than that, it looks pretty realistic. Can't judge till it comes out though.)
