I just did a quick search for high end gaming rigs, ASUS mobos, and computer ram, and I found in almost every case DDR2 seems like the top of the line. Is there something wrong with DDR3? What is the best ram? I'm thinking of setting up a really cool rig come December/January

at the moment DDR2 provides the best value for money and in most cases is only a litle slower than DDR3 and shelling out the extra money just isnt worth it

IC. do u think DDR3 will ever catch on or is it gonna be like IPv5 where it gets lost in the sands of time?

I tried running Bioshock on my PC and it's pathetic, at 1024 resolution it still has framerate issues, and my two monitors go as high as 2048x1500, there is just no way I'll be able to run crysis with that, I need a new computer

DDR3 will be worth it sometime in the 2H of '08.
There is a small performance increase when you make the move from DDR2 to DDR3, though it is really only needed for people trying to break WRs. It is exactly like the intro of DDR2, there really wasn't enough of a performance increase to justify the cost for quite awhile but eventually it became the standard and was worthwhile, like when I was able to pickup 2gb of Crucial Ballistix DDR2 1066 for ~$85.

If you are rich, then DDR3 is an option... But for the rest of us... DDR2 is it.
