I'm looking to buy a new PC and it comes with a 9800GT, which is a major improvement over my current deal, but then I noticed the GTX295 costs way more. So I'm wondeirng, what would that extra power get me? (That the 9800GT wouldn't.)

EDIT: I should probably mention I don't do a lot of gaming. Mainly HD video editing. I wouldn't mind being able to play newer games though

9800gt is still good card and can max most games at 1680x1050 Yes the gtx295 is a beast and 2 times as fast as the 9800gt( depends on the game the resolution you play) but it cost a lot ( i think is about 500) If you want a really fast card you can get a gtx260 core 216 for a bit less than 200 ( which also offers noticeable performance over the 9800gt) or you can get the even faster gtx275 or ATI 4890( all 3 cards will allow you to pay all games at 1080p maxed out and most games even at 2560x1600)

it really comes down to your resolution ur card should depend on what resolution u play and if u plan to play on high res then 260 is starting point otherwise 9800gt is just a 8800gt so it shld be fine at low res
