Maybe I'm just stupid, or maybe I don't understand what playing with three screens actually does, why three screens?

Also, I notice that most people play racing games on these, is that all they're good for?

Perhaps the two outside monitors act as windows? =S

Do these games have special settings allowing for this kind of display?

Yes, the people driving cars the 2 side monitors act as side windows.

Playing with 3 screens is just having a big display.

I've never done it cause I don't like the space between each monitor.

THIS is what I want

eyefinity and 3dvision surround allow you to play supported game across 3 screens these allow for some advantages actually.. in dirt 2 for example two of em can be your left n right windows

in rts's like supreme commander and dawn of war II these contain any menu's and give you more of the battlefield in 1 shot meaning less scrolling around a mini-map

and for blu-rays and dvd's it means you can achieve resolutions and sizes FAR beyond a conventional tv

these setups follow 1 simple rule.. "it isnt what you do with it, its the size that counts"

but they can give you small advantages like bf2142 it has support for those widescreens and as a result you see far mroe than a person down at 1440 x 900

My next question would be, is it worth it, but asking that in a PC forum is a mistake, knowing the money PC Gamers spend to play games at 60 fps with insane graphics, etc. Seems like a waste of cash when you could be playing GT5 for a fraction of the price...

Not really.(on the spending side). Depends if you want stupid maxed out things. I upgraded about 3 years ago....and only had to spend an extra $400 a few months ago cause my video card died, which was probably my fault cause the case didn't have proper ventilation.

I use triple monitors and honestly I don't think I could ever go back. That curved alienware screen looks nice though >:D

Havingg 3 monitors for IL2 1946, my combat flight sim would effectively render the front 180 of my field of view rather than only 90 and in doing so would allow me to continually track my targets in a gorgeous 180 view :D

PC forums....and what does one pretty mediocre game on consoles have to do with an insane experience that you'd get in any game, any movie, for video, audio 3D and photo editing? hard isn't it?

I am not really following your reasoning here.

I'd speak from my experience with eyefinity, and suggest that anyone who's reading this thread, including the OP, doesn't "assume" anything if he/she never game with triple (or more) screens setup.

I'm not into flight sim and driving games, and so I cannot (and won't) verify the postive comments made by others.

RTS...it's pointless, my single 2560x1600 screen provides more than enough fov for any RTS games; eyefinity would just space out the battle field, and makes the micro management difficult.

with shooters and RPGs, eyefinity does make the fov wider and the overall scenery more attractive. however the "wow" effects wear out pretty quickly. the problem is that the mouse control in PC gaming is so agile regardless of the size of fov, we can always "mouse" us to the main location of action, almost always will be the center screen, and thus the two others are simply decorational.

when you go site seeing, that's wonderful, but when in action, you'll always go back to the main the screen.

there's only one game, AvP, that I find eyefinity truely makes the gaming experience exceptionally different...so, to me, it's not worth it currently.
