This doesnt make any sense, you should be getting 60 fps+ but hey i got the same problem when i tried to play crysis it slowdowned as sh1t. And the reason for that was that i hadnt connected the graphic card properly, it wasnt getting enough electricity so it slowdowned as sh1t, chcek how you connected the graphic card and see if it changes anything.
Hope it works, good luck.

My 8600Gt is in fine. TF2 runs like a beauty, as does HL2:ep2. As for crysis, i was only hindered by ram when I had 1gig. But now its smooth as butter. Bleh.... Im gonna give up at the end of the week if this poo of a game doesn't run well.
I have vista ultimate 64bit, but that shouldn't matter. FarCry plays smoothly :-/...candid_llama
That could be your problem "Vista" can be picky and cause problems.
This may sound stupid, but if you got a USB keyboard, take it out and see if the frame-rate shoots up.
I've read of FEAR having issues with specific types of keyboards (mainly Logitech's gaming keyboards) where it just runs like utter crap unless you do a couple specific things...
I'm curious as to why the hell that issue hasn't been fixed......SquareEnix accidently had the same problem occur in Final Fantasy XI in their patch last week, but came back a day later and fixed it, yet here's FEAR with a fresh stand-alone expansion pack that came out, and the problem still persists...Genexi2I believe it's the engine F.E.A.R was built on that causes this issue.

Vista is garbage right now
THANK YOU SUPERMARIO AND GENEXI2. From 15 frames MAXIMUM, to 64 minium and 213 maximum. Greatly appreciated, one thing though. Does anythingi have disabled affect anything besides that?candid_llamaNot a problem. You make me want to play some F.E.A.R atm but I have to get to class. MarioOO
Edit: It doesnt effect anything and if you want you can always enable it back after you done with F.E.A.R.
I know this guys problem has been resolved but I wanted to throw this out there. I had a very similar problem but it only occured when I was running xfire.BlackBart2Then dont run Xfire heh, check the support forums.
I bought it a few days ago, and ran it when i had only 1gig of ram. And it was horrible, choppy beyond belief, only 15fps. I than upgraded to 2gigs, but still i get 15fps. I got the update for FEAR just in case, but my frames never went above 15. i doubt that my 8600GT is the problem when i can run other newer games better than FEAR(Crysis, COD4, GoW, TF2). any idea?candid_llama
Don't worry about it, it's not your machine. The developers were idiots when they made FEAR so that's why it's choppy as hell.
